How many of you have to put up with this kind of bureaucratic nonsense?

For some reason this reminds me of a woman who saw me kill a rattlesnake near my driveway entrance. She said I was harming the natural eco. balance. I suggested mouth to mouth resuscitation to possibly revive the snake. She said she would if she thought the rattler was still alive. Then she changed the subject and said I should not cut any more trees in my yard. There were two stumps in the yard. We recently had a storm and had blown two trees over. I told her I had two hundred pecan trees and another thousand acres of woods. I think this went right over her head. The next day a man drove up and explained the woman was his wife. I could see me killed right there. Then he started laughing and apologized for her. She had become a recent member of the Sierra Club. They lived in an apartment and had never owned a tree (or a rattlesnake). God save us from nut cases and thank you for understanding husbands.

That's a funny story Woody.

But .... of course .... you know it's your duty please her. After all, you wouldn't want to be a bad ambassador for our hobby, eh ? Now hurry, go do the right thing: Apologize, and have a logical ecosystems conversation with her. Make us all proud !

Yep, all it takes is a Busy body with too much time on their hands to cause problems where none exist.

Try wearing a bright yellow vest where your still allowed and tell anyone that minds your business your removing harmful metals from the environment and show them a hand full of lead.
Laramie, WY now has "No Metal Detecting" signs.

I was detecting a creek, which runs through town, the other day. A young lady asked me what I was doing and I told her clearing out the trash and hoping to find some relics of the town. "Oh, your metal detecting!" I showed her some of the trash I plucked from the creek, but she was completely offended. "Your ruining the habitat of our aquatic creatures and destroying our delicate ecology!" I put my headphones on and continued my search.
With so many youtube videos and TV shows glamorizing our hobby I expect it to get worse. I've watched so many videos of, I suspect, newbies in a park, school, or someone's yard digging a crater to find a penny or cutting a nice plug only to completely destroy it because they don't know how to pinpoint. It really gives off a negative view to so many not in this hobby.
That's exactly why I use headphones in high people areas!!!!!
