How Many? How Many?

I am in new england. If they don't stop it...it will hit gulf stream eventuallly....6 months from now. This spill is no joke. BP should be wacked 1000 a gallon per day in fines until they are broke. I can't believe its still leaking....250k a day. HH -Joe

and at what cost to us ? the dispersent just sinks the oil to the bottom of the ocean and then sinks into the sand ,will it effect sea life?yes
will it effect our life in the states?yes as the price of BP oil gos up to cover the cost of cleaning it up and the price of sea food gos up
we will all pay for it to some degree i'm sorry to say but its truenow if that can get a balloon around the pipe to keep the rest from leaking!!!!

That's an easy question. It's everybody who makes less than 100K a year and lives in the US. Over 100K you probably own part of the company. What would happen if all the stockholders boycotted BP and withdrew funds? How many of you voted for a politician who approved of deep off shore drilling? As long as WE allow the oil cartel to hold us hostage to 'their' source of energy, disasters will always happen, and there will be no motivation to develop realistic alternate forms of energy as SOME people are making just too much money from oil. Lets see...Halliburton..Iraq...Louisiana Gulf, Black Water...is there a pattern here or am I just being silly? jim

Hi Folks; BPmanaged to temporarily plug the oilpipe last night. They plan to pour Water proof cement on it to cap the well permanently.it does not solve the larger problem at hand though. It will take 30 to 50 years for this problem to stablize. They estimate 5.7 MILLION Gallons of oil were spilled. That it will cost TRILLIONS to fix for lack of a better word.May God Help us all. !!!!! PEACE:RONB :usaflag:

Oil companies should not be allowed (by the relevant country) to drill unless they can show beforehand that they have the knowledge. resources and ability to minimize the effects of ANY accident or incident. This is a disgrace and will affect the whole world.

I hate to say it but there isn't a single person on this forum (or in the nation for that matter) who wont feel the sting of the irresponsibility of a few oil tycoons. I grew up on the Gulf of Mexico and my family goes back on the same island for four generations, and until a few months ago it never even entered my mind that something like this could happen. I have never been for Offshore oil drilling. I don't care what argument you throw out at me, I wont budge. I look at the island and the Gulf not just as an incredible work of nature but almost like a part of my families heritage. I live just below Tampa Bay (the largest estuary in FL), which is a breeding ground to almost everything that swims, mates, or feeds, in the Gulf of Mexico. The waters here are nothing short of amazing, I routinely see dolphins, sharks, manatees, and so many species of fish you cant keep track of all you've seen in even a single day. You cant poison the planet you live on to support what is essentially a technology with a very short remaining lifespan. It's the height of our egotism to think we can do whatever we want and not pay the price. We've known that oil is bad for our at home economy and bad for our environment for the past 40 years and we have remained hamstrung in the development of sustainable, environmental power by the same companies that harvest that oil. In the next ten years you are going to see what a lack of insight produces as this body of water and almost everything that lives in it or around it is slowly polluted to death. Tack on the fact that the same companies that are destroying our environment right now will be gouging us at the pumps citing this disaster as the reason (I'd have a joke for that but, I get so mad thinking about it that I cant even come up with something). It's time to change our thinking....You can't decide not to "see it" just because it isn't washing up in your lake,ocean,spring,etc...You might be already up to your nose in it.

I have been watching the 'news' and I haven't heard anything about plugging the well. I heard they were siphoning about 25% of the leak (Leak...now that's an understatement) to the surface and they were planning to try the plug thing. Hope I am wrong and it is stopped. Theres another platform, same outfit, farther offshore and drilling deeper. "Some" in the government are trying to stop it. An inside whistle blower claims the blueprints for the platform have never had a sign off so it's equally or more flawed than the first. Anybody happen to see 60 minutes and hear what one of the survivors said about the whole thing? If you haven't seen it, try to find it on line. It's an eye opener.
If somebody could tell me how we can stop this nonsense and their's a chance to do it, sign me up. I have no faith in the 'vote' manner of creating change. Hope every incumbent loses this election. That might send a message. jim

Its not plugged. There are three leaks in the pipe on ocean floor...one close to begging of welll...in middle and at end. They are letting gravitiy and suction feed the latter. Too much suction and they will draw in sea water from first to breaks in the line. Its by no means a "fix". I will tell you what. I love shrimp. I am stockpiling it. Because its gonna cost a lot for it. GODAMN BP. I am up on east coast new england. And heated at thought of that stuff gettin in the stream up here. Could take 6 mo but possible!

Hi Folks; I posted what they had just said on the news.I did not know about 3 different leaks. Here they said it was about 85% contained then they were going to plug it permanently with cement. Now they say the oil will "start" hitting the Florida Coast in 2 weeks when it "WILL" hit the Loop Current. The other thing is thy say the oil "bubble" is over 2000 feet in depth.Another words its 2000 + feet thick and moving.!!!!!!!! We're only seeing what's on the surface.!!!!! That's UnGodly.!!!!!! I bet God is crying right now for sure. May God Help us all. PEACE:RONB :rage: :usaflag:

Hi Folks; Now BP says the 'original' oil containment estimate of 185,000 gallons per day is really now jusst about "25,000" gallons a day. They don't know what they are going to do.Another hing I noticed is that the news in the Gulf Coast or Florida is literally differentthan thenews we get here in Boston.I smell more than oil brewing. It wreaks of a cover up.!! I can only talk about what we hear up here Then sort it out as we honest people talk about it.We are all being LIED to.!!!!!!! When are they going too get honest with the American People.??? PEACE:RONB :usaflag:

Dump sand bags on it. Fist sized to car sized. Keep dumping it. Take about a week to stop it. Then redrill and cap it. Take a lotta sand bags...but eventually it would stop it...it would be stopped at this point if thats what they did from day one! We are all gona be in the soup with this one. :veryangry: :veryangry: :veryangry:

Hi Folkds; Now they say it "WILL" come around Key West and up the East Coast aiming straight at North Carolina Coast. They are still working on a solution.God help us all. PLEASE. PEACE:RONB
