How many do panning for gold?

Hello! I am still learning to work with my Ace 250. However the lure of gold is strong, especially since it is known to have gold in my area, however probably not enough for any commercial venture. I am thinking of getting a panning kit and give it a try. Is there any other member that also does this?

Yes......I have flour gold in the north Saskatchewan River. I used to pan, then moved up to a sluice box, then after getting about 1 3/4 ounces of the stuff, I mostly metal detected. I have on occasion gotten out and use my Garrett Gold Stinger to find the most highest concentration of iron oxide, where the highest concentration of flour gold should be. A metal detector cannot detect flour gold.

I have lot of good leads, but not enough time to check them all out.

One is a 2 mile hike to a large gold mine with lots of tailings. I would love to try out my detector at that place.

You should hit that spot bud if it hasn't already been hunted to death. There's some nice stuff to be found in tailings, especially platinum which was worthless in the "gold rush" days and was thrown away.

I would rather prospect than do anything.Nugget shootin' is my favorite.I also love panning, sluicing, high banking, and drywashing. Never did care too much for dredging although it is the best way to get the most gold and I think it's messed up what the state of California did about it.
If you are really serious about finding gold-sell that Ace 250 and buy a used Scorpion. The Ace is a great coin shooter, but the Scorpion truly exceeds in finding natural gold, which is what it is designed for. Get that panning kit, too! Best of luck to ya!Happy Hunting!
