How is your headphone battery life these days?

n/t

I put Ray-O-Vac AA alkalines in it and it has been outrunning the rabbit. I always buy Ray-O-Vac batteries when I can. I was using the Panasonic Oxyride batteries but I think they stopped making them. The oxyrides started out at 1.7v so they would settle in at about 1.5v, where a standard alkaline starts out. They were a VERY good battery for detectors. I still have maybe 12 or 16 of them, buy 'em if you see 'em... they're great in detectors. I don't know if they would be good in WHPs though. Since they stopped making them you may run across some packs at a great price somewhere.

I have no idea how many hours I have put on my V3 but this one set has been in the WHP for a long time. I always carry extra batteries in my pouch because I expect them to run out everytime I hunt but they just keep on going.

They now have NIZN batteries that are rechargeable and at full charge are 1.6v. Google them. The Whites handle packs up up 15v. Carl posted this. There's your answer to rechargeables for the WHP. Done side they need there own charger. Rob

It is a rechargeable issue. Was only able to get in a total of 4 hrs. in, but the alkalines are still at 2.83. Thanks all!

jbow, I'll keep an eye out for those Ray-O-Vacs!

The batteries were only .10 per package. :wiggle: And they had 8 per package, alkaline and name brand, not store brand! Sure wish I could come across that kind of deal again! I love a good bargain. HH, Nancy

Nancy...That is one of those kind of deal that is incredible!!! Good luck in your search to get them....Heck, at 10 times that price would be a score!!

My experience is counter to what is being described here regarding wireless head phone battery life. First, I have always used NiMH batteries in my WHP and they have always worked fine. This past weekend on the beach in Florida, I ran down two of the V3i systems battery packs (both are NiMH packs) over two days (down to 8 volts each.) My WHP batteries (Durracell NiMH, 2000mAH) ran at 2.44 at the start and now are on the third system battery pack, and they are showing a nominal 2.41 volts and are still working fine.. That is about 12 to 15 hours of operation without having changed the WHP batteries.
Conclusion; It is possible to run NiMH and also possible they run for at least 8 hours.

Cycled my charging a couple times and still am only getting a max. of 73 percent charge with the Sony's and Powerex. I think the Sony charger may be at fault here. Alkalines are still going strong.

The Data was based on measurements made with Defective Headphones.

My Defective wireless Headphones were Replaced with a New Set.

My New Headphones, Now, with the same rechargeable cells is Now working after 10 hours, or 2 days of hunting.

To nw1886 - Some factors;

Rechargeable Cells of good quality,

Charger needs to be working properly.

Some cells have a Higher self discharge rate than others.

Good Luck.

Just used the dual headphone feature for the first time! What a learning/teaching tool! Jury is still out on battery life.

I didn't recognize the brandname and only looked at the 9v pack but it was agood deal I think. I didn't count them but from the size of the pack there must have been at least 20 of them, it was a flat of about 8x8 inches. The price was 22 bucks and some change. The AA packs were a little bigger and a little cheaper.. I think, I didn't make a point to look at them but i'll probably be buying some. They are alkaline.

That is a WHOLE lot better than the 4 bucks or so for a two 9v pack at most stores.
