How fragile are Whites Coils?

I was just on the Treasurenet/white's detectors forum and in the help section someone else was having a problem with thier 6x10 coil. You might check it out. HH Dennis in Idaho

Dennis, I had posted earlier about my problem in the other forum as well. I'll have to take a look at what the other guy is saying. Hey buddy, I do really appreciate your trying to help me though. That's one of the reasons I keep coming back to this site in particular, great people, such as yourself.

That's alright Robert, appeciate your help. I've talked to the seller and I can send the coil back for replacement.

i have hunted with white's instruments for a very long time,and have owned SEVERAL different models over that time span..(30 years)..i have NEVER sent
even one instrument back to them for ANYTHING!..i do NOT work for them,and have NO interest in personal gain for saying this on a treasure hunting forum i am NOT a dealer either!..the detectors i have owned thru the years have been "dead nuts" reliable!..period!..that's it!..absolutely NO coil problems,and no issues of ANY kind!..also every one of them got the s***!..used out of them,and then they were sold!..i presently own a xl-pro,and in my opinion,this instrument is rock solid,and extremely well built!

regards!

Have you considered the Whites 12inch spider coil? That would surely give you the extra depth wouldn't it.
Robert R

Yeah, but have you seen the size of the center hole? Pinpointing must be a bear. In fact, I've read where somebody said they were having trouble pinpointing with this coil and I know how much trouble I've had pinpointing with the stock. That's one of the reasons I'm trying so hard to get a good 6X10 DD, this coil pinpoints the best of any of the Whites coils I've tried.

I would say if you think the coil is bad, then you just got a bad coil from Whites. I have never had a coil problem with any of my Whites and yep, they do take a beating at times. Yes I am carefully with my machines, however one will sooner or later hit it against a tree or rock, or step on it or what ever. Never cracked one nor had the wires come loose.

Send it back and ask them to please test it before shipping it out to ya!!

GaryL .... :whites::detecting:

GaryL, good idea on the testing. I've already called them and got a committment to ship me a new one via USPS instead of UPS.

Update: Got my third 6X10 DD coil and tested it today. Guess 3rd one is the charm. This coil works as advertised. I noticed it came in a sealed bag this time too. I had them send it USPS.
