how do you turn on ALL METAL ?

Just not sure here. I read about people hitting fields and saying that they had it in all metal.
Does this mean they had it in "Coin and Jewelry" and cranked up the "All Metal" ?
If not how do I go about doing this.
I am going to a field tomorrow that has never been hunted. It was once a plantation but is now a painball field. I figure I can find almost anything out there. So the "All Metal" sounded good.

Have you read your manual? Have you run thought the expert menu to look for features?
Expert menu - audio - search audio

Unless you experiment and explore the features you will come up short. Rob

You can't turn all metal mode on in the 6 block menu - you either have to do it from the live controls, or the expert menu. I'll go with the live controls. Scroll over until you get to the audio live control. Press zoom which should bring up an audio menu. Scroll down to search audio and press enter, then scroll down to all metal and press enter. If you want to turn on VCO for all metal, press enter again to open the all metal submenu to see the VCO selection.

You can enable all metal (or mixed mode or if you have V3i stereo mixed mode) mode from the expert menu in the audio submenu as well.

Yes I have read the manual, over and over and I keep going back to read when I learn somthing new. The reason for my lack of knowledge is that I am totally new to metal detecting. I only just started about 9 days ago. I am still learning the lingo and terminoligy, and I am also starting with the V3i which has quite a bit to learn. I am sure that I will get it especially since I have the help of all the good people here.

Fred, Your trying to learn too fast ! ! ! HAVE FUN---Just go use the detector. Just about ANY stock program will find good stuff. If you are in ALL metal---you will dig ALL targets.

I think Jerry has some good advice......trying to learn too much too fast will likely result in disappointment. Learning the V3i as your first detector is a "major jump in and swim or sink". I would suggest the coin and jewelry program as well for the first several months, dig everything that beeps and learn where the good targets fall and how the bad targets sounds and looks different on the screens. Take you time in learning and have fun finding what is in the ground. Experience is the best teacher.

Thanks for the advice. In my area it seems to work pretty well in "salt beach" in my area. I just turn up the all metal and discrimination a bit. I am also swinging faster now and it seems to be doing very well.

Hey Ferd,

Have you tried Mixed Mode pro? It combines aspects of both discrimination and all metal modes. My favorite program is Hi Pro. Anyway good luck

I have not sent it in yet for the upgrade. What exactly does it do? I just heard about it the other day. Seems like every couple of months there is a new download, or improvement? Maybe I should wait for the next one and kill 2 birds with 1 stone.
