how do you protect yourself from ticks?

GRAY GHOST

New member
hello everybody, its the inevitable question... tick season will soon be upon us, and ive tried just about everything, with varying degrees of success. how do you protect yourself from ticks? skin so soft works good for mosquitoes and mayflies, and so does off! but what about tick protection? hh,

Hay GrayGhost,

That's a good question. I would like to know the answer to that one.

I surveyed for over 30 years, and the older I got, the less bugs would
bite me.I got to where I could go any where and not be bit by anything.
I was in the same places as my crews and they would be constantly
complaining. I never even used any bug repellent. No bites!

After some blood clots and an aneurysm, I discovered that my blood
was too thick. I have a genetic defect that makes my blood too thick.
Now that I'm on blood thinner, (same thing as rat poison) the bugs
bother me more.

HH,

A couple years ago I was hiking for 3 hours and I removed 26 ticks from my pants. Someone mentioned Repel Permamone to me. You spray this on your clothing and it is effective for two weeks. This stuff does work very well.

I will at the very least be tucking my pants into my socks. I have also been looking at buying some Leg Gaiters, or maybe just getting some Velcro straps for the bottom of my pant legs. I will also be wearing long sleeve t-shirts when in the woods. Then all you can do is inspect yourself once you get home.

Hi Gray Ghost. I just use Cutter's deep woods bug spray. I spray it on my boots and socks and bottom half of my pants heavily. This works for me. I think all ticks come from the ground up and not from tree branches as much. Any other ideas, guys?

I used to live on Hilton Head in the 70's and I never saw a place have so many ticks. I worked for the cable co. and we had to put an under ground line to a tower. It was a two hour job and we knew it was in a tick infested semi swamp.
I used Skin so soft. Nobody could stand to be near me. When we got done I found one tick on my pants and I think he was trying to get off. The other guys each had between 20 to 30+ ticks on them.
I also use to put sulfur in gelatin capsules and take one everyday. Bugs don't like the sulfur in your sweat. If you drink sulfur water, you don't have to do that.

my girlfriend and hunting partner is a tic magnet i spray her pants knee down and shoes and sox with harts tic+flee spray for dogs, it seems to work good. ithink in idaho most tics are on the ground or in the grass. thanks for all the info i have learned from all you hunters.

Maybe you should dress like a hooker.....short skimpy skirt, tight tanktop, nylons and high heels.....any tick with eyes could tell it ain't worth biting that if the clinic bills would be high.....then again Bens 100% deet should work....:wiggle:
