How Do You Carry Your Digger/Probe/Pinpointer? (PIC)

I wear gloves summer and winter now. I buy the cheap gloves that are cloth but the front side of the glove (palm/front of fingers and rest of the hand of course) is the kind that is dipped in latex. It keeps your hands dry when digging in wet dirt in the winter, yet it being cloth still it keeps them warm as well. These gloves can usualy be bought for like $4 at a home improvement store. I love them even for summer now. Less chance of poison ivy and when I take them off my hands are clean.

For pinpointing my method for popping deeper coins with a screw driver is to lay my digger on the ground parallel to the probe. Get the probe's tip under the coin and then push it down onto the digger's handle much like a teeter totter (I know I spelled that wrong), using the digger acting as a pivot point for the probe's handle to leverage out the deep target. Works great. Just push down on the screwdriver's handle and it will leverage the thing right out of the ground.

For digging plugs now I've taken to leaving one side still connected to the grass and then just flip it out. When you flip it back in the plug is going to be right back in it's original spot so it looks much cleaner. There is also less chance of the grass going dead because at least some of the root system is still attached to the surrounding ground.

I bought two of these pouches. One for tools, the other for trash. Digger is within a cardboard tube so that the sedges do not tear the canvas. Pouches have a clip on the back so that you do not have to use a belt, just clip to your pants. Bought at Lowes.

I quit using a pouch years ago and now just wear heavy duty cargo pants and hold my needed gear in my other hand. I do use one when an area is "loaded" with trash but still.....don't tend to do those areas unless I make them a layered retrieval project.

What do u do in the summer? I b in SC an it's shorts wearing time in Spring!

It is not a very good picture but I use the SunRay Treasure Pouch. I have tried about every other kind and they only lasted a couple of years at the best for me. This one will out live me I'm sure. It has an inside sheath for my Lesche but I don't use the Lesche in playgrounds.

Larry, That does look like it will last forever. And the price is very reasonable. Thx for the link.

SC huh?....One of my daughters favorite spots on the planet. Shorts!! My legs have not seen UV since the Nixon administration! (Loved saying that "Nixon Administration" stuff!!)

Yep...SC. Columbia area. Originally from MD, but got tired of the cold. Makes the body hurt more than it should. We are experience a cold front of 30-45 degrees right now, but at least we are not covered in snow and ice like most of the nation. I don't remember the Nixon days, but I did like Reagan years. Though I was too young to pay attention to politics.

Found new sheets to funnel dirt and keep my knees dry and clean. $5.99 for a package of 4 at Bed Bath Beyond, but find one of their standard "20% Off" coupons to save ya money.

$11.00 at the local hardware.. Removed hammer loops, cut some stitching.. My Lesche sheath slid into modified pocket and folded over the top of the pouch trimmed and epoxied into place.. Modified pencil pocket to hold a bottle with wet sliced foam for good finds (or not identifiable DON"T RUB!! )other pocket modified with pvc for pinpointer.. Lesche, pinpointer, magnifying glass, plastic sheet, plastic box for large coins, and a pair of root cutters..

Now this is an interesting topic!
Below is my latest creation.

The bag is a two pocket leather screw/nail pouch, the inside pocket is the larger one, in it I mounted my leather screwdriver probe holder and beside that I mounted the sheath for the soil knife.

The idea for the two pockets comes from my old hunting days of the nail apron having two pouches, one for good finds, the other for junk (trash) The mounted tools still leaves room for the trash, the smaller outside pocket is for the good finds.

I'm now looking for a better belt and someday maybe a better pin-point probe.
Enjoy the pictures!

Mark

Well I got my new belt (Goodwill $1.00) and I got my new Pin-pointer, so here is the updated pictures!

I just carry my Lesche and Pro Pointer in my left hand and detector in my right. I have an old coat with big pockets in the front...good finds go in the right pocket, trash (pulltabs) go in the left.:detecting:

I always thought a bunch of stuff hanging off of me looked a little silly. I put my finds in my front pocket...junk in the other and dump junk often in trash can.

I have seen guys with multi pocket vests with stuff hanging out every pocket, belt hangers, and all kinds of stuff though.. Just not my cup of tea. ...

Lol One guy even had a shovel tied around his waist with a rope..... now that's pushing it..Hahahahhaahah

That's all I do and have a couple pair of re-enforced "Dickie/Carhart" style cargo's with big re-enforced pockets, knee pad pouches and riveted loops.( Maybe they were lineman pants or something?) Goodwill finds and have no tags so.........just don't like stuff hanging off my waist.

I went to my dealer to buy something to carry all my stuff. He said go to Lows or Homedepot. I brought a
thing that goes around my neck holds ever thing and my pants stay up
