How Can Finding 6 Pieces of Silver Be The Worst Day of Dectecting Ever? :ranting:

We all have to respect the rules of that particular land... Slipping in just further causes more problems, and no iffy reasons either just to detect........ We have to get the rules changed back..

I don't think Pride has anything to do with it either.............. If the gardner was told to enforce the No detecting..he did what he had to do for his job.

Would I check with the park manager, or city. You bet.... and I would make sure he was told to enforce the no detecting rule...

correct! this basically the "only" option we have!.generally the ones concerned are the guys that have to keep the place nice!
"they" have a right to be concerned when the 'clowns" open the place up,and don't properly cover their holes.as you mentioned, and i
agree,if ya get "tossed"take the time to check for a "favorable" local ordinance".IF you don't find one "prohibiting" detecting.then go for it
at that point! hell, all they can do is say no!..make 'em say no,especially if YOU KNOW you are leaving little trace of where you have dug!
in other words,WHY give up,with out a fight,if ya think ya got a chance, and the hunting is good.explore any option!..just sayin'

this is essentially absolutely correct,however
all the ordinances i have reviewed do NOT specifically"prohibit"
metal detecting by definition,SO a hobbyist STILL has "wiggle room"
to explain and promote himself as a responsible person who disturbs the soil minimally
to the town authorities...just sayin'

yes! a "big" issue is the person you encounter on public lands
who wants to be the "watchdog" of the world! so to speak!
truth be told, they generally lead very sad lives, and seem to exist to just disrupt
others by "meddling" these people usually cause the grief, because they will "rat" you out
tell others in authority who will be "forced" to be pro-active because someone complained.
