i just pay for the permit, then tell them to go scratch!
if i follow the (stated rules) posted or permitted on ground under there care and they come up to me its harassment.
i also think that forming a group of like minded people in the area to go to hall meetings would get old for them fast!
When Asking for a F.O.A request this process gets noticed!
you can stand or you can go your mind is yours to think! and mine is mine.
Really i am not a hot head at all, for sure i am not!

He gets paid to set at home watching the cameras on the weekend ?????

I don’t do so many parks for the reason you all describe- so I haven’t had run ins with the law yet and I’ve been detecting 12 years. Mostly I dtetect in permitted woods and fields where there’s 5 to one shotgun shells to old relics, but no trouble from anybody- ever. I do get harassed by ticks and occasionally snakes.
My favorite park is big, unpatrolled, old farm fields turned park where old and new are mixed.
Parks with heavy visitors I’m not comfortable in although that’s where the jewelry is.
