Honest answer

FART :)-------As Dave J says--why would it matter???----As good as that great little machine is, I don't care where FT makes 'em!

Is the fisher gold bug pro made in the U.S., or is it made in China?

If it matters, that means you're interested in buying the machine, now we're getting somewhere! Just contact the local dealer or forum sponsor from whom you intend to buy the machine, and ask what it says on the box.

The new Gold Bug units are extremely hot and loaded with features. The industries only 5 year warranty and made in the USA, found this on there web site if made in china it could be a fake ?

Well Dave gave the correct answer.

Made in America is a buying point for many many of the people i know. As far as i know all first texas products are made in the USA. I hope and pray this will always always be the case. They build my favorite detector the T 2 ltd. Made in America should matter to ALL Americans. It stands for quality and service secound to none. I avoid all that i can made in china and look for made in the U.S. especally on my most inportant detecting equiptment.....my detector and i hope dave j. And the folks at first texas always remember that! Please tell us u were kidding Mr. Johnson......jmann....Alabama:usaflag::usaflag::shrug:

I own one, but the box it came in doesn't say where it was made.

It is obvious why manufacturers evade this question. If a part or all of their machine is made in Mexico, China, or similar location, they know there is a presumption that it is cheaply made and likely to break down.

This may or may not be true. But it is a battle of perception that no one really wants to address.

Old Fart, I would say this: if it was junk, no matter where it was made, Fisher would not likely back it with a five year warranty. Junk won't last five years. It just won't.

I have not heard of Fisher having consistent quality control problems based on the quality of their machine or their components. Sure, you hear people complain they got a lemon, but what manufacturer hasen't had that happen?

If your question was a matter of patriotism and only wanting to spend your money on American products, well, that is a different story. But in this global economy, whether you love it or hate it, it is nearly impossible to find much of anything that is 100% American made anymore.

Heck, the Honda I just bought was made in Indiana using Japanese parts. I could refuse to buy one because it is a Japanese car, but all I'd do is help put American assembly line workers out of a job. One could argue that I ought to buy an American car only, but do you know how much manufacturing of American cars takes place in Mexico?

APPOLOGIES, APPOLOGIES, APPOLOGIES !. Sorry guys for the question. Did not mean to raise anyones blood pressure. I saw this mentioned on a well known whites distributor web site and it got me shook up. I was ready to put the pro on the 50 yard line and give it a lead funeral. However after doing a lot of digging and research I found that my beloved machine is indeed made in America and made by proud Americans. I am an old war vet so you understand I am a died in the wool patriot.

Proud to have other patriotic Americans on the forum. If our blood doesnt stir over made in USA Then we are lost completely. TECKNETICS FISHER BOUNTY HUNTER MADE IN USA. Thank ua Jesus

Thanks, OF. If you can PM me a link to the "well known white's distributor web site" I'd like to take a look at it. If I don't like what I see, chances are pretty darn good they're gonna fix it.

Hmmmm, I wonder what happens on a Minelab forum if you ask if they're made in the USA or China?

First Texas "WILL" take care of you. No if, ands, or butts !!

Will they always have 100% perfection in products.. NO !! Neither will any other company.

Will they always take care of warranty Issues.... YES SIR ..Always..... Will they make the extra effort to satisfy a customer..OH YEA !!

Do I know this first hand .......... Yes Sir !! 100% satisfied is exactly how it has been for me with any issue I had.......

PS: USA all the way !!

Dave J. As for minelab , I cannot buy one because I only buy made in America when it comes to detectors. It is very important to me that good Americans have a good job in the good old USA. Enough said. As for the web site, I really don't want to stir up a hornets nest.It is like a bucket of foo foo, the more you stir it the more it stinks. The web site had a list of detectors good for gold prospecting and high lited next to the gold bug 2 was the words now made in china. This was one of his old links and I cannot find it on any of his new links. He is pretty old and I would not want to cause him a heart attack. I think we should move on and concentrate on finding gold and goodies with the gold bug Pro. Maybe some videos on how well the 11 inch dd coil works in the gold fields for big lunker nuggets. Let's get rid of the negative vibes and go for the positive ones like how great the little gold bug pro is. I love mine and I have all three coils for it. Going to put on the 11 inch dd today and use it at gold basin for big nuggets , as soon as it cools down of course. It is a great little detector. I have used it with the 5 inch coil here in Lake Havasu for coin hunting and it has one of the best disc I have used. The little coil works very well at a trashy site. Went out to site 6 last year and found a lot of clad. Well, I better quit cogitatin' and go do something while I am still able. Again, sorry for all the conflab I caused with the question. Later guys.

It matters to me if products are made in the USA for many reasons.
1. Don't have to send it overseas for factory service
2. Job growth is in America
3. My money gets to circulate in America. It is called the "Velocity of Money", look it up.
4. Instruction manuals are more readable. I had a Chinese outboard motor that "hooked to the tansom with a Cramp", (not Clamp)
5. Instructions and designs are more intuitive.
6. The jobs I save may be my own.

Now Dave J, you know Minelab detectors are made in Heaven.

By angels.

Any Minelab owner can tell you that!
