High Schools Getting In

I use a GTI 2500. I have had many 100 coin days with both my Ace 250 and my GTI 2500. I have had a few 200 coin days but that was two or three hours in the morning, two after lunch (after a nap), and an hour or so just before sunset. Finding a lot of coins is a product of the location and your abilities.

I tend to focus on coins but I have days where I go looking specifically for gold jewelry and others where I look for relics. Depends on my mood. I do like to recover a lot of targets, though, so I tend to get lots of clad. Luckily, it adds up very quickly!

High Schools are great places to hunt but you have to find where the kids hang out. I found a spot at our local high school that was loaded with targets and I could get 5 or 6 bucks in an hour easy, plus a ring or pin every so often. I was asked to leave one summer day by the principal. He is a real tool. I've gone back a few times and found I did a pretty fair job with that spot but there's still plenty left. When I go back now I only bring a screwdriver. The guy had no problem with me detecting. Only digging.

Prepare yourself to dig lots of trash. We may be indoctrinating our youth to love Earth Day, and think green, but they still love to throw trash on the ground. Luckily they have the same respect for their jewelry and money.

I can't say this enough. It takes practice (in my case about 5-10 good solid hunting hours) to get decent with Garrett detectors. You will know the day it happens when you return home with significantly more swag than you normally find. 100 hours after that you will be very skilled. Post photos of your finds, ask questions, search the archives for interesting posts. Good luck!

Chris

I agree 100%, i've been paying school taxes for over 30 years and i've never have children. So yes, i'll be going to all of my local schools and MDing some of my own money back.
