Hiding Anfibio cable

shellhouse

Active member
This may be a dumb idea, but has anyone considered drilling a hole in the lower shaft and mid shaft to pass the coil cable through on Anfibio? May need to loop back on mid/upper to take up excess but checking to see if that's viable given the space without kinking. Thinking of making this like the ML Explorers even though it wasn't made to be. The shafts appear to be big enough internally.

Going to go for it. Everything checks out in my opinion.
Will post pictures of the result.

The mid shaft (alum) will need a grommet, and lower shaft can be smoothed out to prevent any chaffing.

May be able to get it done this weekend.

Have you checked to see if the Impact rods would fit since they come with the cable in side the shaft

Thanks for the heads up - it didn't even cross my mind but they do appear compatible and essentially the same except Impact shaft has a cutout for the cord to pass through.

Will pick up an impact shaft, probably today.

Here are some stats on weights of the different shafts. Received an Anfibio shaft very quickly.

MMK:
lower shaft with hardware 2.54 oz
mid shaft 4.5 oz
Upper shaft assy 11.13 oz
total: 18.17 oz

Anfibio:
lower shaft with hardware 5.41 oz
mid shaft 5.26 oz
upper shaft assy 18.95
total: 29.62 oz

Of note is that just the upper shaft assy of Anfibio weighs more than the entire MMK shaft set with hardware

Anfibio shaft set is roughly 11.5 oz more than MMK, so about 3/4 lb. Have heard of some swapping over from AF to MMK shafts for less weight. Not sure but would part with my MMK shaft if anyone wants one.

Will proceed with hiding the cable once an Impact lower shaft comes in. Will save a little drilling and filing on that, and integrity may be better on the factory part.

how much would you take for the mmk shaft with shipping to Bedford Indiana?

How did this project turn out?
