Hey Minelab

I've been using the CTX 3030 for 5 years, I'm not sure if I'll buy the next one. The XP Deus just killed it for all the money of the CTX it got beat by performance and customer service.

Minelab is actually behind in technology now and not behind their technology giving us updates to keep their products competitive.

This is their flagship machine and it sits in my closet collecting dust.

So why sit here complaining? Sell your CTX to someone who wants a good detector at a cheap price and be done with minelab. Some people just like to complain about something. I'm not knocking the DEUS, from everything I hear it's a great machine. But just because I like XXX detector doesn't mean I'm going to turn around and bad mouth the last detector I owned.

There are a lot of things the CTX does which the DEUS can not do, or does poorly. The DEUS has many advantages over the CTX in other areas. Choose your machine for the intended hunt. It's a tool, so it's functionality is dependent on the user.

Guys, This wasn't started as a Deus VS CTX posting. Go back and read it. The two units were mentioned as a comparison to the support given by one company and the lack of support by another. Ra Ra Minelab or get out has no place here either. We are just talking about the total lack of support given by Minelab after the sale and hoping somehow somebody reads it. That's the point of the post.

Because replies like mine will get Minelab to be competitive in the market.

replies like yours defend them when they don't deserve it and they won't feel any pressure to better their product or stay competitive.

They apparently have some people who follow their products in a cult like manner (not talking about you) and assume them the best and do not criticize the company when they slack.

But it doesn't!

Minelab is an international company specializing in gov't contract counter-mine detectors and gold detectors. The U.S. hobby detector market is a tiny piece. Minelab is a small part of a larger conglomerate called CODAN. Everything Minelab does is controlled by a board of directors who are looking at profit. honestly, all of us hobby hunters could disappear today and it would probably not even be noticed in their bottom line .

Bitching and moaning about our detectors in a forum which minelab doesn't monitor is a waste of energy. Like I said earlier, if you aren't happy with any detector, sell it and buy one that you are happy with.

No Jason
The reps have repeatedly said they do look at forums like this one. Granted nothing seems to come of it. We will moan and most of us will keep our detectors. Sorry it bothers you.

Personally, I'd rather spend my energy researching new sites instead of complaining. Somehow I suspect that will bring me more treasure in the long run.

I guess it takes all kind to populate the internet.

I don't care if they issue an update or not that's up to them, but I have open eyes and I see they have enough time and money to open a litigation against XP and i have to say that its a sign they spend more time looking under other peoples detectors hoods than their own.

it also shows some fear they are losing some ground and it was/is cheaper to tie XP up for several months in red tape.

i know everyone will have different thoughts on this but i am allowed to see what i see just as you are.

so that's what litigation causes confusion and time wasting its a stalling tactic for in this case minelab to do some catch up and it also tells me XP are a threat to them...

make of it what you will but we are the losers in the short term and we can only hope winners in the long term....

despite what any detector company would have us believe their sole aim is to sell me a detector and get me to open my pocket book..its 100% that simple.
