Ah ok it does flake a bit. The new rock I just posted does not flake.If you poke at the rock in the original post with the point of a knife blade, do you get little shiny flakes breaking off? Are those flakes relatively thin or could be split into individual little sheets and the thin ones are translucent or transparent? If so then it is mica.

Yep, that's what it looks like to me.. Pyrite is usually a square type mineral. This looks like flecks of mica.Hard to tell from the picture. It could also be a make a mica schist.
