I have a request for you to look into, given your Fisher Ho Pimp Daddy Poster Boy status. Would it be possible for someone at FRL (the design engineer maybe?) to publish somewhat of an engineering report about the C$ sorta like Mark Rowan did for the DFX? I notice that the C$ is somewhat of a love/hate thing more than average certainly for a top of the line detector. (I being one of the lovers of course). I'm sure there were reasons that the C$ was designed so differently from anything certainly from Fisher in the past and I'm also sure there are very good reasons for this to be true. Hearing those reasonings might/should be helpful for many in sorting out the C$ and gaining confidence in using it. As mentioned with the DFX, we've had the forums but more importantly the Rowan report, the CD, the Sierra book, and now the Foster book. I know... commercialism at it's finest, but knowing how and WHY a detector functions like it does when it seems so different goes a long way toward being comfortable in knowing one is getting all they can out of it. Just a thought.

Seriously, I'm one f those types that have been asking "why" since I could talk so I'd REALLY like to see something done on this re: the C$.

there's one major sticking point that I see preventing that from happening (at this time anyways). That would be the infamous "proprietary" thing the C$ still has. This means it's top secret & maybe there's some things inside FRL does not want anyone to know about. Also, since many in the hobby have been completely fooled by the marketing hype outta Austrailia that more frequencies mean deeper arrows going in the ground, the C$ keeps you guessing in that way too. Your idea sounds more possible with the Excel, because it was published that it was just a single frequency which really surprised me. But, I'll try to ask Fisher if I can (But I have no clue what the DFX report consisted of)...
But, maybe being secretive is best for FRL anyhow, seeing that their 1266x trigger & battery under arm cup design has been completely ripped off (but at least my 1266x door didn't have to be held together with rubber bands)
Isn't it nice that with Fisher detectors we don't need to carry "repair kits" of o-rings, rubber bands, knobs, screws, etc, into the field with us?

but hopefully, perhaps they can at least discuss the intended advantages and how to be sure you're getting them without them giving up the farm. I'm a big fan of on the job training and the power of being self taught and all, but I have to admit some info from the design experts which corroborates or perhaps even disputes one's findings can be very valuable too. Given the last part of your post, I take it you got my email. :D

Most of the detector

because as you know from our previous dealings, I certainly respect and appreciate your input and opinions. I'm also a black belt information sponge so again, any info is appreciated. Whenever the DFX comes up, I just gotta chuckle. I know the two detectors are quite different per se (I have both) but they each do seem to own the most "mystery" in their respective brands. If I were to speculate, (somewhat educated speculation :) ) there wouldn't be near the need nor the extent of verbiage required to fully explain the C$'s development and usage in all different scenarios compared to the DFX. I guess that means Will wouldn't have to write three books, cd's, etc to get the word out. Like he said, maybe some more info will surface by design or deduction once this operating frequency patent thing is complete.

You said it surprised you that the Excel was listed as a single frequency detector. That leads to a lot of questions  Since you field tested it with the engineer I have one statement to make... SPILL YOUR GUTS!!

Well, I'm really not hiding anything, honest :ninja: All's I meant was that I was surprised that Fisher published the frequency of the Excel. I expected it come out as "proprietary" just like the C$. Make them think it's a buncha arrows rather than just 1 arrow ;) You know I actually saw a couple guys (on the Dumpo of course) say they wouldn't buy one because it was "ONLY" a single 6khz detector. I get the feeling those people think that means it only goes 6 inches! Hey, yea....that's it...that must be why everyone's going for the 14khz Toysoro's. They think it gets 14" bootins in bad grownd no less

You know you 2 should have really been there when the Coin$trike was all in pieces on my coffee table :)

I suppose I can say this much.....you'll can possibly get your engineering report. But, I sure hope you know more than English as it will all be written in German! :heh:

I have to wonder how many people stumble on these forums and leave shaking there heads at what interests us.

Bright lights, toothpicks holding the eyes open, non stop dripping water on the forehead, truth serum, 120 decibels of Barry Manilow or Donny Osmond, and if none of that works, we send in the air headed college barbie dolls after we tell them they can use and pretty well destroy Bill's new throne room for their next sorority party video. That oughtta break him!

Your all gonna laugh but I actually listened to them when heavy metal was popular during the same time I was diggin' slave tags while wearing short, shorts in 1983. I even saw the "piece of mind" tour :super: :eek:fftopic:
But yea, I often wonder the same thing. How many lurkers must drop in for the first time for info on the Excel or C$ & wonder what the heck is going on in here?
Like Brad said we need like a dictionary to explain all the inside jokes & I tend to get silly when I have a lack of finds to post.......;)

I'm thinking Tom was referring to the device, not the band. ;)

Being the loudest headphones I ever tried because the "Piece of MInd" tour stole some of my hearing? :yo: Will every metal head from my era need a hearing aid soon?
Boy this thread is going south fast...... ;)

I did the whole concert thing all through the 70's and most of the 80's. Still regularly catch good bands in small venues (loud). I've been playing guitar since I was in the 6th grade almost daily and I usually crank it up pretty good plus all the detecting for years so if I'm not deaf, (HUH?) I think you're safe. As for the thread, well at least I started it with a legitimate C$ post. :D

I think Mr. Bill plays too & of course the guy who banned you for life plays. Maybe you all should form a band? :super:
Speakin a small venues & 80's heavy metal. I'm sure glad I never liked Great White as I drive by 100 makeshift crosses everyday on my way to work at the site of "The Station" nightclub that burned a couple years back. The biggest fire tragedy in concert history happened 2 min. from my house. A place I had been many times & saw many a band play, including a KISS tribute that spit fire not long before the Great White thing....
Boy, I keep straying farrrrr from your topic of the C$ engineering, but I have 2000 albums & like 400 CD's so I'm more able to talk music from Europe than electronics;) Hey "Accept" played there remember them?....they were from Germany at least :eek:fftopic:
