Even though Nebraska has a state-wide conceal carry permit program, the privately owned Westroads Mall is a gun free zone. In other words, the mall was posted at all entry points that guns are not allowed... this includes legal carry permit holders. However, it didn't stop the deranged nitwit from going in with an SKS semi-automatic rifle, and blowing away 14 or 15 people.
A similar incident happened in another mall a few months ago. The mall was also a gun free zone, but fortunately an off duty police officer, ignoring the signs, was carrying his gun in the mall and was able to shut down the perpetrator before he killed many more people (had he not been there). This type of anti-gun thinking irks me to no end. I would have carried my gun into a gun free mall, because I know there's crazy people everywhere. Legally, all they can do if you are suspected of carrying a gun in a gun free mall, and you have a license, they generally escort you out of the store... possibly with them (mall security), securing your gun until you are out on the curbside before they give it back.
OK, OK, I have to step off the soap box now 'cause I can go on forever about STUPIDITY.
