The dirt stuck inside the coil cover certainly cannot do the coil any good and it seems from most opinions that the covers are really just a waste unless used in brutal conditions such as very rocky and abrasive areas. My coils covers are now off and I will keep an eye on the wear and tear. I can always put them back on.
