Help Identifying Iron Part

A little more context. This picture I found on the internet from someone who posted this find 6 or 7 years ago while searching for civil war relics. I found the same exact part here in TN, except the one I found was much more corroded, so I posted this pic instead. Think civil war era. Its roughly 1.5" wide at the narrowest part of the diamond and about 3" in total length. That hole goes all the way though the part.
