I think the real question is how you stated that you found it recently metal detecting and yet somebody posted these same questions on other forums almost two years ago.

You are correct that in 2009 there was a question posted about this ring...well...not this ring but another ring exactly like this one. If you check the other post from 2009 there is a pic of the ring that was found. It is exact except for the damaged faceplate. I will see if I can find pics of the rings for comparison.

You can see the damage the ring from the 2009 post has on the faceplate. I have tried to contact the OP from 2009 to ask where they found the ring but have not received a message back. I really did not think I would as they OP from 2009 only had 3 posts on the forum they posted their question in.

Interesting observation...I tried comparing pictures of Anton Levey to the face on the ring. While there are similarities I do not think it is him. It is possible though as I have not viewed every picture of Anton Levey.
Anton LaVey died on October 29, 1997, in St. Mary's Medical Center in San Francisco of pulmonary edema. He was taken to St. Mary's, a Catholic hospital, because it was the closest available. For reasons open to speculation, the time and date of his death was incorrectly (by two days) listed as the morning of Halloween on his death certificate. A secret Satanic funeral, attended by invitation only, was held in Colma. LaVey's body was cremated, with his ashes eventually divided among his heirs as part of a settlement.
