:rant:HI EVERYBODY, I HAVE A QUESTION ON HOW TO PROGRAM MY :garrett:ACE AND MY 2500 , I WANT TO TRY TO SEARCH ONLY FOR GOLD AND SILVER JEWELRY ,I USE TO HUNT IN ALL METAL MODE ,AND DINT HAVE ANY LUCK BECAUSE I GET TIRED TO DUGOUT PULTAPS AND BOTTELCAPS :rage:, AND I KEEP CHANGING COIN MODE , SHOULD I KEEP SEARCHING IN ALL METAL MODE ?? ORE HOW DO YOU GUYS PROGRAM YOU RE DETECTOR FOR GOLD AND SILVER IDEM ?

Welcome to the club.

The most expensive find I ever dug up, looked like a pull tab on the screen!

Certainly not all, but most DSP detectors are basically coin ID machines. When you want to look for the good stuff, you almost have to use the all-metal mode. That way you won't miss anything. Obviously, you have to dig a lot of trash, but sooner or later you'll get the hang of what's under the coil.

You can custom set the 2500, and perhaps get rid of a few bothersome trash, however you're liable to miss some jewelry as a result.

On my GTP I run it in custom mode and I only notch out 1 - 2.5, Iron - foil. But, even doing that you still gotta dig it all to get gold (On any machine). That's just the way it is.:garrett:

Unfortunately gold and gold jewelry falls into the same conductive range as most junk items. If you don't dig junk you're not likely to find either. Just the way the cookis crumbles. There is no magic bullet.

Yeah, my nickname is pulltab.:biggrin:My middle name is bottle cap!
Seriously though, man, don't get discouraged. Keep diggin' up that junk, be persistent and you will get the gold!:thumbup:Best of luck to ya!:detecting:Happy Hunting!:)

you just gotta dig dig dig, and get lots of swing time on your machine, youll learn whats what in time..
good luck

my wife works at a dialysis center and has a patient who gets credit for the newer pulltabs (dont know about older ring tabs) but I see them as money anyway -not for me- so i have no problem digging them...to everybody... might check into that so someone can benefit from pulling trash from the ground

Whack all the different non ferrous items in seperate buckets, 1 for copper, 1 for lead, 1 for aluminum, 1 for brass etc. All the aluminum cans you find simply place the pull tabs inside them, fill up large bags with the cans. When you've got full buckets etc take them to a metal recycler, you'll get paid for most of your "trash items". Another way to make the hobby pay! cheers Nugget.

I go by conditions. At some areas digging everything means I would be in a small area all day so I give myself 3 chances to find gold by programming my custom mode to accept the foil notch, also. On my Ace that's the same as the Coins mode with the foil notch on. I have found 3 gold rings in the last two weeks doing this. In tot lots, it's Relics mode or all metal and since the diggin's easy I look at everything. In fact, everywhere else except the trash areas I LOVE the Relics mode. In this custom mode, I have 3 chances to find gold-nickel accept, foil accept, and square tab accept(class rings, usually.) Of course I loose the chance to find one in the tab area, but to keep my sanity and enjoy myself under these conditions, I have had great success. Here's the clincher: if you KEEP YOUR EYES OPEN and don't watch your coil but EYEBALL in the general area you're searching, you can sometimes SEE small gold chains or rings. And to top it all off, a SNIPER coil increases the odds-OK, guys, I'll try not to get carried away on the sniper coil again.:bouncy:

Well, I finally got to try out my sniper coil and I am very impressed! I found about 10 clad quarters under a metal fence and under some aluminum bleachers that I would not other wise have gotten! So, Although I have not found gold with it yet I certainly think I will.:garrett:

Okay 'jesus'...here's the scoop! What all the other guys said, 'dig the trash'! Think of it this way; it's like finding a good wife. There's a lot of women out there but not very many 'ladies', if you get my drift. So it is with finding 'Gold'. You dig a lot of 'junk items' to find the 'Good Stuff'. And like 'Nugget' says, 'Save all the junk in separate buckets and, when they're full, sell the stuff to a metal dealer" (summarized).
