What do you guys recommend for the CTX.

Will use mostly with the wireless module but want to also use without.

Of course the need to silence the speaker and give the best sound.

Thanks

I have been very happy with my Grey Ghosts and the Uniprobe.

I assume that both of those will disable the speaker.

Also how do you like the uniprobe. I had heard they were uncomfortable.
Thanks GK

If you use Radio Shack part number 274-0360 it will shut off the external speaker.

I haven't noticed any discomfort with the Uniprobe.. Not sure what they were talking about.

This is how I have mine set up.. I zip tied the WM10 module to the headband of the headphones

It would be so nice to have a pin pointer that was wireless to the WM-10. Different channel so that when you laid the detector down and there was nothing coming from it then turned on the probe, voila, it is in your ear.

I just noticed that Gray Ghost has a new set of head phones for the CTX. They are for beach, underwater or rain. On the site I saw them, they were $157.00. I shouldn't say new, it is the first time that I saw them.

Yeah... I saw those.. I am not sure of the differences between the two as far as sound goes.... A quick call to Gary Storm (owner of Detectorpro) would give you the answer.

Sunray pro gold work best for me love them very comfortable

I have the original Grey Ghosts....amazing. Had them for over 15 years, and I just had them replace the connector since it was breaking (and they did it for F R E E!)..tells you something about a company...so, anything from the makers of Gry Ghost is the best bet!

Started with Grey Ghosts, and love them, but My Black Widows stay on the CTX

When my audio plug was broken I thought of getting the BW's....but someone told me it's just for people who are hard of hearing and need the volume,...is that hogwash? I would think you could hear even better deep tones? Even though I hear them with the original Ghosts pretty. Since you are coming from Ghosts, what are some of the differences you notice? Would love to hear (no pun intended!).

Thanks,
- Mark

The extra sound dampening and cancelation really helps in noisier settings. Sometimes they can block out too much tho and you not realize people have walked up on you if you are lost in thought. They feel a little better to me on my head, and yes tones are a little louder, but I like that. I can always turn audio down more.

For those who use the WM-10 here is something to consider. If you buy new headphones if possible get the type with the replaceable cable. My nephew who is an electronic whiz whipped up this short connector cable for me in just a few minutes. It is nice not to have to have the standard long cable dangling from your phones to the WM-10. This short cable goes around the back of my neck and has just the right length so I can put the WM-10 in my shirt pocket or Bib overall pocket. If I need to plug it back into the detector then I just would use my original cable.

I been looking at the BW's and was wondering if the limiting circuit works on them. I already have the standard SR Gold pro's and while looking at the SR's for the 3030 noticed the note that the limiting circuit does not work. To tell the truth I don't want to buy something made for a detector and standard features are non-working. The thing that keeps me away from the GG are the one volume knob, my hearing is not equal after years of working in a noisy workplace.

Rick, have you looked at the gg dmc or killer b optima st? I keep looking at both sets as they are supposed to be for the ctx. The problem is, I cant decide which pair i want...

I went over the DP web site and looked briefly, I just wasn't sure what could work with the 3030 or not since I've seen some mfg saying you needed a special wired HP.

Both of those sets are supposed to be wired correctly and work with not only the wireless module but also shut off the speaker correctly(which is what most hps dont do)when connected directly to the ctx...if you dont plan on connecting directly to the ctx any headphones work fine with the wireless module.

Thats what I was wondering, I'm not sure how much I'll use the wireless. I'm going to try them but would also like to connect direct and everything work.

With the CTX having it's own volume limiting setting, why is this a concern, won't it do what you are trying to accomplish?
