Headphones for Nokta Fors Relic

Does anyone have any problems using Killer Bee headphones or any other type of headphones with your Fors Relic? I was using my Killer Bees with my machine and every once in awhile I would lose sound. When I got home, I noticed that when my Killer Bee headphones jack was plugged all the way in I had no sound, but when I pulled it out just a little it works fine
The headphones that come with.it works fine when it is plugged all the way in.

The Killer Bees are virtually identical to the Sunray's, and the Sunray's won't work either. Gog Phones work very well on the Fors Gold+ and CoRe.

There is a mod you can do to the standard Sunray's which makes them switch off the CTX3030 internal speaker, but unfortunately this mod still doesn't help on the Fors units.
You can hear a bit of audio coming out but it is very quiet.

try those headphones on another detector are they working proper??

sounds like a lose or braking wire.

and if its not that its where the power is being picked up on the detector socket, don't own one so cant help, have a GR and the killer b type phs work on it.

try a set of like 32 ohm speaker headphones see if they work?

after reading this I am going to say its an ohmage issue of the detector output.

cant see anything here http://noktadetectors.com/specfications_fors-relic-metal-detector.asp

I know I have had speakers that sound good on one detector and real soft on another and its the ohms of the speakers its interesting though that the 150 ohms are soft they seem to do well on every detector I have used and chances of you both having a lose wire ?????\\

I had a similar issue with the garrett dual volume headphones that came with my used tesoro deleon.
Worked fine on my compadre, but oddly enough didn't work on my ace350.
When you say pulled half out, it might be because the detector accepts mono headphones (one colored or black band on the male jack) and stereo has 2 bands. Things with a mic have 3 I believe. In between the band's is the metal that engages inside the female end to complete the circuit.
When you pull half out, you may engage the part inside the female in your detector where a mono set of phones would normally engage.
Just an idea and I'm still looking into the issue with mine. The are pretty old so that might have something to do with it
Also, there's a switch on my garrett for mono and stereo and when I ran them on my compadre, it was in mono but it ended up in stereo when I used them on my garrett and came in and out of audio even when I played with the jack.
They could just be dead...
When I used the ones that came with my ace, it was fine...
Who knows really.
I'll let you know if I find out anything new.

yeah depends on where the detector is picking up the power from, but every detector made should run on straight up stereo headphones its when adding a volume pot that things seem to change as to where the detector is picking up the power hence the on/on switch to grab the power from a different spot on the headphone jack

fun hey :lmfao: I am still working it out strange critters they are.

or their both deaf as posts :lmfao: come on fellas test those headphones on your other detectors see what's going on ??

trying to help you out here.

I like the ones that come with it. Great audio for my hearing.

Just getting to respond back. My Killer Bees work well on my other detectors. I've never had to pull headphone cords from the detector jack. The headphones that came with it work fine but the cord is flimsy and would not take long to break. I ordered a set of Deteknix wireless headphones to use on the Fors Relic. Not very deaf though but I do have to use a set of headphones with a limiter switch to even out the sound.

Well I tried all my headphones...
1. Older garrett dual volume over the ear-
Works on all but very quiet on my ace ironically. Quieter on my relic than my tesoros.
2. Garret headphones that came with my ace in discovery pack works well on all, but very loud on tesoro.
3. Phillips that came with relic. Work and is loud on all.

Not sure what this all means, but th e garretts old ones have become my tesoro headphones. The rest can be switched as needed.

I don't know then  I seen the phs that come with the GR I put them in the box of bits and bobs yeah they wouldn't last long detecting, only thing I can think is fiddle with the limiter switch and see what happens volume etc...
let us know how the deteknixs go??
I was just having a joke about being deaf and wasn't meant to offend

thanks for posting this up, all about ohms of speakers and how the detectors are wired up and our hearing also.

bit of fun anyway and we all learn a bit hopefully :beers:

No offense. I really do need headphones with a limiter switch on a detector to help me hear better. I had wireless headphones with the Deus and was wanting a set of wireless headphones for my other detectors. I'll let you know how I like them. I did buy a 1/4 adapter to use with the Killer Bees to see if that works. Thanks for the help.

I tried putting a 1/4 adapter on the Killer Bees to see if it was the plug. No luck as I still had to pull the plug out a little before I could get them to work. They work fine on my other detectors. Just hoping the wireless headphones work.

I just got the Deteknix wireless headphones put on the Fors Relic and they work fine. I don't know why my Killer Bees don't work right on it. It could have something to do with the ohms or maybe the capability to use it on different machines. It does have the switch to make it work on different machines. I still don't know why it works with the plug pulled out, but oh well. As for the Deteknix headphones, they are really loud with the volume all the way up. Actually they were too loud. I had to turn them down. I ran the detector over a few targets and I could not tell any delay in the signal. The real test will be in the field.

Chickamauga,
with all the evidence that's been presented obviously something is failing and most things don't get better once they start to go, so time will tell what it is, but my money is on the detector headphone socket, with 2 reported cases in a short time and I also read someone had a similar problem with a racer 2.

from what I remember it was a nut holding the socket in place on the socket on the detector, don't know how you guys are with having a look inside to see what's going on inside the detector, if the other report is right then it could be as simple as a lose plastic nut.

if not eventually the problem will make the detector un usable with any headphones I would guess.

so on the evidence on hand this is my final conclusion
