Haven't posted in awhile.

I have a copy that came with the detector. I think it will take me some time on the audio. Which audio mode do you run in most of the time? Also do you run in high trash mode or low trash? This forum has been a real big help. I'm not finding alot of older coins but I am finding some and I'm mainly hunting schoolyards that have been hammered for years.

Ah, what does he know? I'M JUST KIDDING. That sounds pretty safe to me. I'm not sure how much dirt it would get off, but I'll sure try it, and it does sound pretty safe. Did somebody say peroxide in some way or form. I thought I heard that, but I'm not sure. At any rate, I'm glad were still addressing this issue from time to time because I think it's so important, and, you know, after all is said and done, I would think that the coin store guy is the most important one to please or at least another buyer out there. If the coin store guy is happy, then we'd probably be happy too, if you get my drift. I had very good luck with the electrolysis type method, but it really worries me if I'm taking off too much stuff and changing the color and look of the coin too much. That one needs more investigation, at least on my part.

This is Beach Guy, I hope you ment me on this, but I think I'm running in ferrous audio, but I'm ashamed, I don't remember, but I think the audios are distinctivly different so it could help you once you decern which is which. I usually run in low trash mode because I think it gets better accuracy and if it's a super trashy area I might bring out my 5" coil which seems to spearate the trash very well, albiet you can't cover as much ground in a given time, it's very selective on the targets and seems to go pretty deep. I think this audio thing can be pretty "tricky" in terms of differentiating"some" of the tones, but from what I've read in the past posts, it pays to practice much on it and try and learn the different sounds.

Conductive drives me crazy. Iron gives a high tone and sounds like a coin. I read a post from james 1969 subject "A Few Hints". He states that iron gives a 2 toned signal. A lower one first then a higher one on tha same sweep. If you listen close you can hear it. It has helped me not to dig so much iron. I still get fooled but not as often.
