Has Minela outsourced ??

Thanks for the info. They are sweet looking little machines. I like the display and I bet they are near Tesoro weight by the looks of it? Fast sweep (?) and recovery speed makes for some quick clad hunting as well to rack up some fast money. That would be my only complaint about using the GT, that it isn't going to grab the shallow clads as fast as other machines because of the slower sweep speed. Not that a skilled Sovereign user can't rack them up just about as fast, just that it's a little less effort with something fast and light. However, since my main thing is deep old coin hunting I'd rather have a slow recovery machine to help with max depth, and the GT is for sure that.

....and stop talking like a person with a paper a$$hole. (URBAN DICTIONARY to reply to a query in a foolish or stupid manner)

Minelab moved their production to Malaysia to a facility owned by Plexus Corp. Plexus is an ISO 9000 World Class manufacturing Corporation that I believe will be a marriage made in heaven. Plexus world headquarters is in Neenah, Wisconsin and they have electronics manufacturing facilities throughout the world. You also need to know that Plexus discipline in the electronics field also includes military specifications which are the tightest manufacturing processes in the world. World Class Manufacturing and ISO 9000 mean that they are a process driven company that will maintain constant electronics specifications.

Give it a chance, I think both the Minelab lovers and Minelab (Codan) have scored big with this decision.

I think a lot of people hear the word 'outsourced' and think the worst. Yes, there are some places where outsourcing becomes a nightmare (call centers where the person on the other end cannot be understood is my main one !) but there are other times where it can be very beneficial.

Glad to know about Plexus and it's standards.

Another minelab dealer just filled me in on this a day or so ago.

Jim wouldnt you agree, as mentioned in several posts in this thread, that minelab would have done everyone a good service by simply posting all or some of this type of info on their website and mentioned repair times might take a little longer. And sorry. no matter what, call backs dont take alot of time and are time well invested both in current owners and future owners. That would be just good business.
Minelab found the time to post on their website a warning about overseas copys of their detectors, so they do care about losing business, and poor customer service is one way companies lose business.

I would guess everyone would calm down if minelab would just put peoples minds at ease. they had a pretty good reputation before all this started.
