direct relationship between the channel selected when using noise cancel and the maxium depth of detection with the Explorer?
I use the S model, and it seems to detect deeper when set on channel 5.
The tests were with known targets & depths. There appeared to be no noise regardless of the channel chosen. This test was run in the country, and there is a definite noise on some channels when checked in a city some 18 miles away.
Am I missing targets when I set the machine for minimum noise versus using a channel that gives me more depth?
Thanks for any help.

Hey Ty, I think channel 5 seems to get optimum depth also,, it is also the one it selects by itself most often when no other explorer nearby at least here... might be imagination, but I think so.. also when another explorer is set to channel 5 a noise cancel seems to land on 11 which seems 2nd best to me?

Jim,
Thanks for confirming what I was seeing. I can detect a deep target I have buried only when the detector is on Ch. 5. To heck with any noise, I'm staying tuned to 5 for the next good beep.
Ty
