Has anyone metal detected in Puerto Rico or St. Maarten?

I am from Puerto Rico and yes i have. back home an from My town Mayaguez to around the island is OK !
all i detected the beach and no much in land.

Back in the 80s I lived in San Juan.

Based on my (admittedly outdated) experiences, don't bother with the beaches behind the nicer hotels, and condos.

The beach groomers they were using would pick up about 4 inches of sand, sift it, and lay it back down.

I never found a thing of value on a groomed beach. (It was very effective at removing pull tabs also, so the news was not all bad.)

What you might try to do it locate where they dumped the hoppers. There would be a LOT of aluminum, but also everything else they picked up.

Not having a car at the time, I never could locate the dump sites.
