Has anyone configured their dream machines yet with the V3?

Mike Hillis

I'm mostly a inland jewelry and coin hunter and the big desire that pushes me toward a V3 is that complete customization to create my own personal dream machines. I kind of drool over that aspect of it.

Have any of you built your dream machine yet?

The V3, so far has been a dream machine. I'm still learning it and working out some tweaks that I'd like to try but I am absolutely thrilled with the performance.
Coins and Jewelry are my preferred prey, but the occasional nugget might be in my future.

Mike, find a local dealer, check out the V3 and see what you think ;-)

most customizable and best allround detector ever made IMHO !!! i have been using the V3 for a little over 5 months and it has fulfilled all my expectations and suprised me aswell !!! I have just bought an XP goldmaxx V4 and it was dead easy to write a program that emulates the GMP and their new flagship the DEUS , i have used all the available coils with the exception of the 950 and have found it a pure dream to use. program wise i have now written several progs from the ground up that suit all of my detecting needs perfectly. why buy another detector i hear you ask ??? well the GMP has been bought to carry out some very specific detecting needs in very contaminated ground. I also use a minelab sovereign elite and XLT which are old favs of mine that also exel in certain conditions.

Cloudbuster, you should consider sharing your programs. Maybe make them as an addition to the spreadsheet done and referred to in other topics on this forum.

hi aurium !!! all my proggies i consider to be work in progress at the mo !! when i feel they are fully rounded i will publish for all to share !!! the GMP one if you want to have a bit of fun is as follows !!

gold maxx power emulator for v3 !!! firstly create a new proggy (copy Hi power prog) name it gold maxx... remove all discrimination so she is effectivly in all metal, switch off threshold, set to tone ID and put tone id in custom mode. set tone id custom mode as follows, -95 to -1 set at low tone such as 160 0 to +45 set to say 183 then finally set +46 to +93 to 195 the +94 & +95 to the lower tone. set filter to 10 khz high recovery to 20, discrim to 80-85 all metal to 65 and sensitivity to a workable level oh and nearly forgot set to 22.5khz single frequency .... VOILA uno gold max power or DEUS as it will still show VDI info etc... The low tone will only sound on iron targets the mid tone will sound on small items such as hammered coins and the high tone will sound out on coppers etc (this way you get to hear everything in the ground and can listen for those pops and blips that sometimes hide a good target !!) !!! you may wish to try it in all three frequencies aswell !!!

have I turned it into an E-TRAC... no, not yet. :poke:

I am looking forward to using it in a couple of places I have hunted before, where I know there are still good targets but I know a specialized program is needed to separate them from all the iron and aluminum that is there too. Another place I hunt, I am looking forward to trying the "deep silver" program with a switch to the 22.5khz setting. There is just a lot of time and thought involved in tweaking the V3... and I don't know if it's me or the meds but thinking isn't my strong suit. I'll get it done though!!

The V3 is a keeper, it can be frustrating if you let it be. It can be like waiting too long to eat then going to a restaurant with a 10 page menu... and looking at it too long. Pretty soon, you have no idea what you want. Sometimes it is a good thing to reset "coin and jewelry" to factory default and just hunt.

Really though, I enjoy using the V3, even when I am not sure what I am doing... and when I am certain that I would making more finds with another detector. I still enjoy it and am convinced that it will continue to be new to me for years.

It, for me, is a totally different experience from the time I spent learning to use the Explorer SE. The experience was totally frustrating and I went through it for a year before I finally began to become comfortable with it, the SE. I forced myself to use the SE for an hour or so almost every day (I hunt almost everyday for three seasons) then I would get out my F75, which I had used as my #1 for over a year before getting the SE. I would find little to nothing with the SE then immediately begin to make finds... immediately, when I switched to the F... but I was determined to learn to use the SE... I finally switched to Ferrous/multi-tone and began to understand it a little. I said all that to say this: The V3 learning experience is NOTHING like the SE experience was.. it is enjoyable, the tones are pleasing. The display is nice, colors and curves and I do make finds with it. I make more finds easier with the ET but the V3 is a top notch machine that I am convinced will trump every other machine at certain places and in certain conditions. No one detector is the best at every site and every condition but the V3 has more potential to be that machine than any other... once it is fully understood.

Sorry to ramble but it is one of those days...

Julien
