Hard water fishing and involuntary ice diving ..................

fish for the winter and for the dogs when we were trapping.
Illegal for sure, but real quick:biggrin:
Nobody within 50 miles of us and 100 miles to the nearest town.

You are a hoot bud! Hahahahhaaa You shoulda stood still on the front lawn when that New Yorker came by, like one of them lawn jockey statues.
Thanks Wayner! .......Hahahahahaa

to laugh about too! Glad ya made it to some heat. Been my luck, the car wouldn't have started or something!

They can not imagine how painful that experience can be. It is very scary too!!

being cold like that! It is funny but that stuff didn't bother us all that much as a kid but I sure would not want to go through it now days. It was funny then.

Thanks for taking us back Wayner. As usual, your story's bring up memories

ya we used to break ice to trap beaver and muskrats and just put up with the pain.....couldn't THINK of doing it now tho:lol:

it was like dropping into boiling water. It was so cold that it burned. Wayne was sure lucky as most people loose it in about 30 seconds.!

I found out that the ice is thinner next to the rat house because the dark house absorbs the suns heat. I didn't go through like you did but I went to my armpits, wallered to the hut and got on but the problem was I had to get back to shore. The only way I could was to go back in and break myself to shallower water. I had my buddy, who was on shore and had not broken through, build a big fire before I started back. It sure felt good and I was a full sized man in about two days!!
