Shayne: what is the model number of the Pelican case? Thanks

The case I used can be found on the SKB website, but you can get a much better price off of eBay or Amazon, just look around. I think I paid around $189 two years ago.

Specifications: SKB iSeries 4217 Mil-Spec AR / Short Rifle Case

Interior Length: 42.50"
Interior Width: 17.00"
Interior Depth: 7.50"
Carton Length: 45.50"
Carton Width: 20.00"
Carton Depth: 9.00"
Shipping Weight: 27.00 lbs

Hello Shayne, any idea on the part number for that Plano case you used? Perhaps some dimensions?

Regards,
Jim

Jim -

Its not a Plano case, its an SKB rifle case. It can be found on the SKB website or online, just search - SKB iSeries 4217. You should not pay more than $200 for it - as I have seen them go for $169ish.

Shayne,
Does the SKB iSeries 4217 have "Pluck Foam" or a solid piece on the bottom?
Thanks,
Chuck

There are three (3) layers of solid foam on the bottom; two (2) pieces that are 2" thick and one piece that is 1" thick. I laid the detector on the foam, traced it with a black sharpie, used a thin utility knife razor blade (4") to punch through the foam and saw out the pattern - then I finished it up by spray painting the foam with Krylon Fusion indoor/outdoor paint. Very easy to do - takes about 30 minutes from start to finish if you are taking your time. I use the same cases to store my rifles - custom cut that foam too. The case is air tight, waterproof and lockable! Shayne

Thanks Shayne for the info. This case looks like it will suit very nicely and be a home on the road for the sizable investment (to me at least) of my new CTX3030.
