Hand grip shredding

It's not smart, to not cover the grip. Any hand grip on anything wears out. Just oils from a hand can cause wear. Then gripping it with a bare hand or gloved hand that may have sweat, sandy soil, gritty soil, or anything similar, you are asking for your grip to wear out.

Devildog and everyone else who has had a problem with the rubber grip shredding, what type of gloves do you use? I have only used leather gloves when I am using my detector. I have had my CXT for almost 2 years and put about 8 hours a week on it. Other than being dirty my grip is as it was when I purchased it. Today however, I went to purchase some new gloves and I when I tried on some nitrile gloves I noticed my hands were very oily feeling when I took them off and that's when it hit me. I remembered this thread and wondered if there was a connection to the chemicals in the nitrile gloves and the rubber on the handle deteriorating.
So (STATISTICAL SURVEY):
How long have you had your CTX?
How many hours a week do you detect (average)?
What gloves do you use?
What is the condition of your grip?
