Hi everyone,

I’m new to metal detecting…trying to figure out what this iron piece is.

Thought it could be the top of a crate hammer.

Let me know what you think :)

Looks like it's a broken off piece from a larger object, I've got no idea what it could be.
Maybe someone else has a better idea?
Yeah, that’s what I figured. We thought maybe it’s a handle from a crate hammer. I’m not sure about that though. Found it in the woods near a pond.
 
Sorta like a toe pedal to a sewing machine or a press……..
 
is it magnetic? Test to see if it is iron or another metal
 
Wondering now if it try my be a cam actuated latch (handle)? Some of the old stoves had latches on the doors/drawers.
