Had another bummer yesterday..

Went out for about an hour or so to a park a few blocks away and found a lousy 30 cents. Was going up the street to the park there but some beeper swinger was already there. I stopped and watched him for a few minutes but he wasn't doing squat. I watched him fruitlessly dig for a deep, junk, target that I've known was there for years. Wanted to get out today as it is absolutely gorgeous ( 75 degrees ) but have to hang around home as they are delivering a new air mattress for my wife's hospital bed, so I'm stuck here waiting for those apes to show up. Course they don't give you a time which really pizzes me off. Don't know what the weather is tomorrow. It's supposed to start raining again soon. UGH!

Looks to be showers tomorrow and that is the good news.. The four days after that are suppose to be just flat out rain. Hi tomorrow will be around 52 and it wil get a couple degrees warmer (and wetter) over the next three days.
And there you sit, waiting.on the pretttiest day of the year.
 
My day today wasn't a whole lot better. Went down to a place where the spring breakers go after dark to party. Was there at 3AM. Yes I said 3 AM so as to beat everyone else there. There must have been 500-600 kids there last night as I was watching them on the beach cam. By 2AM they were gone and I got myself together and went out. Well here's how it went. Bottle cap, bottle cap, bottle cap, condom (in the package), condom, condom, condom, bottle cap, bottle cap, condom, bottle cap, condom condom, condom, bottle cap and so on and so on and so on. They apparently had a DJ there last night that was throwing condoms out to the crown. I must have found 60 or so of those that rang loud and clear like a penny. Then there must have been 80 or so bottle caps. I did find 2 costume earrings non matching, a cross pendant stainless steel, a heart pendant silver plate, 3 key chain bottle openers, 8 quarters 1 dime 1 nickle and 3 pennies. I was back home before dawn and was kinda disappointed I didn't find more. Maybe tomorrow.


The digital camera I found there last week sold for $20.00 and the watch I found the week before sold for $30 so the machine and scoop still have to earn me $265 to have paid for itself.

I did no hunting at all, myself. We had some product development folks over from Britain and I had to run the technical side of the program.
It beats actually working, I suppose, but it sure was a waste of a spring day - cooped up inside.

One thing; those English blokes are pretty laid back. They don't get their noses out of shape over everything, like our people do.

Bill I'm sorry for your day. It does suck to wait on service people and when the Grand Old Master Hunter cant go out to detect, well... it sort of skews the world a little.
 
A lot of kids playgrounds are pretty dry here too. Too many people are hunting the same ones, which really doesn't leave much for each one. But, some of the best finds, such as rings both gold and silver came out of those places. Pretty soon it will be soccer season, and a new crop of coins and jewellry will appear.
 
hey Uncle Willy you got me beat i went out for the first time tuesday, weather in illinois was nice and found twenty one cents lol two dimes and a penny plus a large rifle casing at our local park,but was nice to be out for an hour or so with the Royal Sabre.The season is young and im sure we will all have many good finds yet through the next 8 months...Markmac...ps did dig some junk as well of course lol...
 
Hey the Royal was one of my favorite tectors back when. Wish I still had it. I owned a lot of Tesoros for years. What part of Illinois do you hail from. I was yanked up back there and lived all over the state.

Yeah the guy finally showed up about 4 PM so my day went down the tube but momma got her new air-powered mattress. Sounds like you had an easy day. yeah the limeys are a breed all their own and don't get all excited over much of anything and just take things in stride. I'm part limey and I'm the same way.

Hey you ain't doing too bad. Can you hold a special sale and peddle the condoms on Ebay? :rofl: When I was a kid we used to fill them with water and have water fights with them. One would think with a crowd like that you'd round up more goodies but you just never know. At least you found a few keepers.

Well wait till July I was out there in Echo , Oregon a few years ago and it was 106 while we were there . My brother lived there but lives in Boardman , Oregon now . Last trip there was 2 years ago on Thanksgiving the temps were better that trip . I never had my detector with me while there so left all there valuables there when I left . lol We been fighting the winter weather and now the wet spring weather here in Missouri so know how you feel . You can be happy the wife got her air mattress and is sleeping good so won't be cranky with you . I also use a hospital bed but mine just has a foam mattress on it about 6 or 8 inches thick , the one's in the VA hospital have a air mattress and they are nice . oh well hope you can get out hunting real soon .

Uncle Willy im in Galesburg Illinois the mid western part of the state between the quad cities and peoria Il......Markmac....yep had the Royal since it was new and going to hang on to that one even when i decide to purchase a new detector.....
