Guys a question...

In certain places it does act up and the only thing you got to rely on is tone of target and pinpoint....digital #'s are unstable and smart screen is unstable and sound is unstable, but the majority good sound will be reason to dig.....that can mean electrical wires under ground plus hot rocks plus tons of Iron.. or badly corroded GREEN old copper coins just whining for some one to dig them up and make them clean again......but it will give you reason to dig if you are experienced with it and learn it. Deepies will be a whispering halogram.....you may think its deep hot rocks....you may think its electrical noise....but untill you have experience you will only read about it.

I have the XS and my postings just shows what will happen to your sites if you get on the wagon and get a Minelab Explorer. 8" on a Coin is a constant thing for an Explorer so if you purchase one, get ready to DIG DEEP! The S doesn't have Iron Mask Feature and Noise Cancel Automatically on it but the XS does and besides, they will do just as good as the 2 and the SE. The 2 is a bit Faster Responding and has a Dual Readout for Digital and the SE is Faster yet than the 2. Either way, what ever machine you purchase, you will do good with it once you get some time on one. Can you say 321 Silver for the year thus far with my Explorer XS? Love the site of Silver! Good Luck and HH to you.

and not all shallow silver coins are found amungst trash....the explorer will find deepies and find masked shallow coins....that others cannot touch.

It sounded as if he already is hunting some Older Sites that yield Silver Coins and the usual Newer Sites as well for Clad. And yes, it is true that some Silver Coins or Old Coins for that matter are not that deep, they are just hidden by Trash or are tough to get Signals from when in Highly Mineralized Ground. Wheat's for instance usually are about 6" Deep in my area so these Coins will be easy pickens when using the Explorer. If he looks for Sites that are 1964 or Older, he should find some Silver somewhere. And Boulevards are a great way to find them Old Coins if you are in Older Neighborhoods. I do know that my finds speak for themselves though and the time it take me to post them. It takes a few Hours to get before and after scans of the Coins and Relics. Don't worry Mattockman. I didn't take it the wrong way, just replying on your post and yes, it takes time to get to know the Explorer due to the different Signals and ID's and of course, the weight of the machine. I agree with you 100% Mattockman. Now get out there and find some Silver! Good Luck and HH.

Gregg,
I'm one full week into my new SE and yesterday at Old Orchard Beach, Maine I became a believer. I was frustrated at first with the SE but the forum folks slowed me down and straightened me out. I've been an XLT, CZ20 and DFX user for nine years.

If you are at all familiar with OOB you know that it is pounded by metal detectors 24/7/365. I've heard there is even a guy who hunts all night with a miners light on his head. There is nothing to be found down to about five inches.

I spent three hours on the beach near the main pier and came away with two rings and some change. But the eye opener was the depth at which I collected eight dimes. The deepest dimes I've ever dug in my life and the audio was clear and stable. Good thing that I had my long handled duck bill scoop.

I put off buying a Minelab because I thought that the depth stories were marketing hoopla; but I'm now convinced that these machines really go deep. I can't wait to go back to OOB even at 30F degrees.

PS- I will never say a bad word about the XLT, CZ20 or DFX because they all showed me a good time.

been Hit To Death with an Explorer, the Silver could be at them sites you know of that are old. A lot of the sites I have done this year were Researched and that is why I get the Quantity of Silver I do. Every year so far since 2002, I get close to 300 Silver for the year so this is the 1st time I have reached 300 and passed it. You could say I'm still stoked about it. How many Silver have you found this year with your DFX or if you use other Detectors as well, what is the Total. No matter how little it may sound (if you haven't found that much Silver), I would like to know either here or PM me if you like to keep it a secret. Good Luck and HH to you DFX-Gregg!

I have found over 20 quality gold and silver rings...as well as other gold/silver jewelry...but only 12 silver coins....

If your sites have Silver waiting to be found, the Explorer will find them. 12 Silver this year may sound bad to you and others but you have to realize that it sounds like your Silver in your area is either Deeper than what the DFX can find or shallow and was already found. Also, if you are hunting Newer Sites like Schools and Newer Parks, then you most likely won't find anything Old unless it was in Pocket Change and lost that way. If the Coins are Deep, get an Explorer and hold on! You should have no problem getting 100 Silver easily with the Explorer if the sites you are hunting haven't been pounded already with Minelab's. Even if they have been, there is always stuff left behind. Also, RESEARCH is the huge part that will play the key role to one's success. Nothing better than finding a Site that is like Virgin Territory. The more you know about your area the better you will do. Thanks for the reply and if you ever need some advice, you will definitely find it here on the Findmall Explorer Forum. Good Luck and HH.

gregg,

the explorer will increase your silver count like you wont believe. i switched to an XS in late june '07 and already have 119 silver coins and 690 wheats. that's less than 5 months! you wont be dissappointed.

Wow...I really believe some silver coins are just out of the range I am hunting...or maybe the settings I am using. I have been sent a ton of different programs for the dfx in the last week. Surprisingly...one of the ideas going around is to accept most...if not all ferrous/iron readings. Some claim it is adding depth and for some reason... coins are showing up also when deep in the high negative numbers. Your numbers are great.

thanks looks like you are a big plus to the board here. I just had a deal fall thru on an Ex-2....but with winter approaching would think some deals will be posted. I will wait for the right deal....once again thanks for your advice and support.

I would go with the ex2 unless you can afford a new SE. You can pick one up for $650 and use it for a while. Worst thing that can happen is you sell it and get 90% of your money back.
