Not neccessarily. Because the true all metal mode will give a good probablitity of a target deeper then the discriminate mode, I sometimes will verify a questionable signal in discriminate mode in the true all metal mode to see if the target rmains stable in a desirable location on the screen, which is usually around the coin icons. If it is, I dig it.
 
In a moderately trashy area he most likely would hunt in Zero Discriminate mode, and swith to "NON MOTION ALL METAL" mode to confirm an iffy signal.
