New member
I bought a GTI 1500 back in March, and I have only found a few clad coins with it.
I have spent hours watch and reading the instruction booklet.I'm ready to give up.
and go back to my old machine coin shooter 2 at least I can find coins with it.and
it has paid for it self. very disappointed with the machine.

KEEP AT IT GG

it took a while ( MONTHS) for me to
get the hang of mine but now i LOVE IT
I found that once i learned what the quirks were
coins i would have missed are being found
not always Im not that good yet , but the
GTI is making me better than i am...

Just keep using it and it will all of a sudden make
sense.. it did to me and im OLD !!!!!!!!!!!

Im sure the other folks here will say they same thing ..

Happy Hunts and Good luck

PS I bet your old machine made ya :veryangry:
for a whle too until you figured it out

don't give up. when I first got my 2500 I thought it was defective, but everytime I turn it on and that's about twice a month, I learn something new everytime. I'm one of those people who have trouble with cell phones and computers and if I can learn my 2500, you definitely can learn the 1500. Just keep using it and it will all fall into place with you. The idea in Mr. Garrett's books to write down everything is a good idea, but some people like to use a voice operated tape recorder and notice what the target scanned as, what mode it was in and the tone it gave on the target. It will start to add up and make you think, think, think. I'm probably using my at a beginner level or only about 10-20 % of it's capacity, but it's really starting to work for me and you can bet it will get better and better. Good luck and good hunting.

You have the best coinshooter on the market, you just don't know how to use it. GTI's are a breed all their own and you can't use them like you use some other detector. If you do you will fail miserably. What kind of problems are you having? If you're running the sensitivity high turn that puppy down to 6 or 6.5. Scan slow. You can't scan fast with a GTI as they just have too much information to process. Keep your coil an inch or more off the ground. GTI's don't take well to "scrubbing." Let me know what problems you are experiencing.

Interesting thread!

The best machine is the one that you know how to use or the one that does not
give you a headache. I had another top of the line machine and it gave me me
trouble than it was worth.

The best way to find the gold and good stuff is to pass your coil across it.
Expensive machines do not guarantee good finds.

Even the Ace 250 has found many great things! Location matters!

I'm going to keep trying to learn the quirks of the machine.
I have found a lot of clad quarters with it but no silver yet.
and I have planes next weekend of going to a old deserted one
room school house wish me luck

Bill I'll keep on swinging my gti 1500 I mess with the setting till I get it right.

do you want to trade the gti 1500 for a delta 4000
i have a delta 4000 in good condition use it 1 time
pm me thanks john

It does have a few quirks and once you learn them the goodies will roll in. One quirk - it will often ID quarters as cents unless you hold the pinpoint down and move the coil around slightly to get it perfectly centered, then that penny ID will turn into a quarter ID. If you have been passing up cent ID's you probably left a few quarters behind.

Yeah the tector is only as good as the guy on the other end of it. I have a good friend who still hunts with a Compass 77 IB from the early seventies and he will whup your butt every time if ya ain't careful.

Bill.
