Critter. I have hearing loss across the entire hearing spectrum. I have lost nearly all my high frequency hearing. Audiologist said that I needed over 100 db's in the higher ranges to be able to hear them at all. I was a Radioman in the Navy and back then one would sit for up to 8 hours at a time with headphones blasting your ear drums listening to International Morse Code (CW). VA says "Prove your hearing loss is Service Related" even though they have medical records showing that my hearing loss increased with each and every hearing test that I was administered while in the Navy. Therefore I take advantage of the Retiree At Cost Hearing Aid Program. I do have to drive almost 200 miles round trip to see the Audiologist but it is well worth the time and travel expense. I talked to the audiologist yesterday and she advised me that new hearing aids would cost me between 800 and 1000 dollars. That would be 4 to 6 thousand dollars if I saw a Civilian provider. Fortunately with the Sovereign GT I can hear enough of the tones to recognize those beautiful sweet high notes when I pass the coil over a piece of silver. Cant always tell if it is a Copper Lincoln or a deep dime but we live with what we have and enjoy being alive and out swinging a coil.
