Ground coin or Ferrous coin analysis

Guess that is why a place is never really cleaned out huh. Thanks Jimzilla. I find it fun going over and over a place with different settings and machines to see what I missed and I swear it isn't because of missing because of not overlapping my swings nor going at a patch from different directions too and that is why I am going to go slowly through my town one spot at a time. I read a long time ago about a couple of guys lamenting their area was hunted out so they went to a different town and the guys from that town lamented about their area being hunted out too so they went to the first guys town and both sets of guys made great finds in the other guys areas so that made me think, hence my detecting approach and not being in a hurry to move on.

One could probably go through a small patch at a time first in High Trash then Ferrous Coin and then Ground Coin and see what targets if any are discovered in each mode and if any mode finds things that the previous mode didn't find.

Maybe Like stated by Squirrel and Albert one could get some different colored golf tees and mark the different targets with different colors based on which mode setting one was using at the time the target was hit by the CTX. IE. Red High Trash, Blue Ferrous Coin, Yellow Ground Coin...

Tom, that is exactly what I do. I start with HT, then GC, then GC/FG...all in manual. Finally I will switch to AUTO and repeat the process. Amazing what comes out of the ground in different settings

I regularly find them with a f75 ace 250 or v3i at depths exceeding a foot.
My v3i loves wheats up to a foot as the fisher love Minnie balls so I really think m/l may have sold us a goat on this one !
I would love to see a video of these claims...

:surprised:

What khz setting is that V3i in that is hitting wheats at a foot and the F75 khz is 13 as I have a LTD version and maybe that is a good khz for hitting mini's and the CTX and Etrac since we don't really know other than doing a noise cancel at the start of a hunt at a site who knows what khz settings it's running at.

Maybe sometime try running through all the different channel choices in the noise cancel function and see if one channel hits better over another on different targets or deep certain types of targets your looking for to see if one is the optimal one for that target. I'd be curious to see if that has an effect myself and may have to try it on coins copper silver etc.

There is also the fog and headlights effect and sometimes we tend to over drive these machines to get more depth but then you loose id stability amoung other things. Sometimes less is more and better. Maybe that is why Auto +2 or +3 works so well on this machine.

I had the V3i and I can assure you that in no way could you get a penny at 12" down...at least not in my soil.

It all depends on the ground and his claims could be possible in the right ground. (Very Mild)

But, this is the CTX 3030 forum, let's not debate what other detectors can/can not do on here, there are other forums for that.

Agreed sorry for the questioning.. just get tired of this is better than that comparison when its someone we don't even know...

Yes Your Right Sorry, I was just trying to help someone out. Sometimes some of the statements I see people making on these forums or stating that they only want to find gold or silver jewlery and not digging anything else so what is the machine or pattern that does that blows my mind. Or only digging good tid signals or only deep signals instead of sounds/tones and seeing what it is and then only expecting goodies when you do dig is so completely unrealistic it boggles the mind.

In the old days you pretty much dug everything and were surprised all the time at what turned up like the silver 1951 Canadian quarter I dug Sunday at about 4-5" with the CTX in combine mode in FE-COINS and the tid was bad ferrous and 29-30 CO who would have thought silver quarter. Most would probably passed thinking too shallow and or maybe at best an IH penny. Would have missed silver if I didn't dig.
