Ground Balance

I have a V3 that is not upgraded, had this for 13 months and have 100 plus hours of use. I have trouble keeping this thing ground balanced. I am a relic hunter and have 2 programs I run single freq 7.5 and 22.5 in all metal and a 3 freq correlate program use most. In the field it loses good ground balance about every 10 feet. In my test garden I have had these programs setup that I could get a good hit on a minnie ball at 7 inches. Switch programs and then go back to the original one that I had good results ground balance again at same spot an it would give me iron reading and red bars with the occasional good hit.I have tried locktrac with same results. Sort of kills your confidence in the machine any ideas??

How can you tell you lost ground ballance?

How can I tell if I loose ground ballance, what are the signs?

When you ground balance take the time to pump it until it completely balances. It does have an effect on depth. Then test if it is balanced. Pull the trigger for pinpoint, and lower the coil toward the ground. The sound should not change. Rob

If you lose a good ground balance, the threshold will rise in volume or disappear. I like to lock my GB and do a manual GB about every 1/2 hour while hunting.

In my yard a foot one way or another and I'm balancing over a piece of junk. Make sure you test to see the area you balance over is clean.

How can you tell your balance has changed in 10 feet? What are your ground balance settings? Rob

Have you eliminated your search coil? If your V3 is 13 months old, there is a possibility that your original loop has a problem. I'm guessing that you are in a southern state and have pretty bad ground. In some areas it isn't unusual for the ground to change every few feet. What kind of probe readings do you have? If you can post them, perhaps one of the V3 owners near you will have a suggestion.
Personally, I would change loops and see if you can get a stable GB. If not, you might want to talk to Whites.
Good Luck

This my 2nd 10dd and my ground is very mild. I pump it till it goes quiet ,put back toward ground and it hunt for 5 min. or less and starts to get noisey. Lift the loop and put back toward the ground and it sounds just like same as before you ground balance it. This has just recently started to do this, I do know how to ground balance the machine

I'm sure that your GB skills are perfect. I am still betting on a bad coil. Do you have a concentric for the V3 or a local dealer? Try a different coil and in mild ground the 9.5 might be a better choice.
If your problem has just manifested itself and nothing has happened to your detector, then the loop is the logical first choice.
Let us know your results.
