Great warmup yields Big Silver, Barber, Shield, Vs, Indians and Buffalos

I saw an exceptional December warmup coming a couple of states down, so I took advantage of my holiday time off, worked on building my public site research game plan list and headed to Iowa.
All finds shown are from Iowa public city parks and old schools that I thought had a chance of still holding some oldies.
My XP Deus 2 machines were used to pull everything. It was a great way to finish the year.

The 1919s Walker and the 1870 Shield Nickel were found at the same location about 30 feet from each other.
I was thrilled to get the old half dollar but then the shield nickel was icing on the cake as it has been a while since I pulled a shield nickel.
The 1967 Centennial Canadian quarter isn't very old, but I was also happy to get that as it has a neat bobcat design on the reverse. Based on its gram weight, it is the 80% silver variety.
The 1898 quarter was one of the more difficult signals as it was about a foot deep with a large old roofing nail laying right next to it.
I just caught a faint chirp on that one but got enough of a repeatable signal that said, 'dig me'. The '61 quarter and tootsie toy came from the same park.
The handmade rosary cross came yesterday morning as I was heading back home.

Thanks for looking and have a happy new year!
Dave

2 sterling rings
Sterling flag pin with the town name on it
Handmade rosary cross
Various old buttons including the 3-legged bird button which seems to have ties to Hessian Military. Could be a very old blazer button.
10 cent gold plated token or play coin. This had some depth and based on the script I think it has some age.

Fishing hook
Old spoon
Biggest square nail spike I have ever pulled

Thanks Ted. I had to get down to Mid Iowa before ground was diggable. Most of the finds came from Southern Iowa. I was within 30 miles of the Missouri border.
Ground was completely thawed in that area.

Well done and Happy New Years Dave! It's been pretty frozen here in ne Iowa...How far south did you go?

Nice finds there again for you Dave, I think it is done up here now as I see the weather is going to be double digit below zero. Now is the time to go though this years find and clean up the coins and cash in the new stuff (maybe not too many) as most looks like some great older finds as those worked out areas seem to be the good spots for the older coin as you are seeing knowing your detector and research.
Good Luck Dave and may 2025 give you some great find.

Rick
