Grass is Not Always Greener

I am sure most of us have heard this statement many times in our lives. Except today the grass was greener, a brighter green. I was excited to have more time to hunt and I have been wanting to travel to a nearby town. I have never detected in this town so I was surprised to see that in this small rural town all the tot lots in the park were covered with Astroturf. It was bright green and covered these big tot lots. I would have to say it was a big let down. That stuff is right up there with screw caps, pull tabs and canslaw in the level of annoyance for detectorists. I am not sure if it is at the same level as zinc penny annoyance but if not there. It is close. I still had a pretty good time detecting though. I found a couple costume rings. 7 quarters, 9 dimes, 1 nickel and 36 pennies. I dug so much canslaw and left some of it there in the ground. I was digging with a screwdriver and I can tell really quickly if an object is canslaw using this digging method. I dug a lot of trash but was happy at the end of the hunt with my results. Good luck and HH.
