Got the Ace 250 on Sunday and..

I try not to scrub my coil to begin with, but if I start collecting a lot of scuffing, I might consider that over adding the weight of a cover and the silicone sealer a lot of guys like to use to keep the water out.
How about this:
On another forum, a guy described his solution. He had some self-stick linoleum laying around and traced it to fit the bottom of his coil. He accomplished several great things:
1). Low cost
2). Ease of application/use
3). Low weight
4). Closed bottom coil (but a tiny bit harder pinpointing of course), and of course you can cut out to match the spokes too if you want).
5). Throw away economy. When the old one is worn/ugly, you are a buck or two away from a brand new one.

If you get a signal and it stays on a dollar coin, is it likely to be that. I have an Ace 250. I never got to dig had to get home, but I am going back.

Simple way - tape the coil cable up the rod about a foot with electrical tape. All my Garretts are so taped.
