Got my copy of my buddy Jim straight's latest book " Three Hours To Gold From Southern California." A history of the Randsburg Quadrangle and nuggets

As is the case with all of Jim's books it is a veritable wealth of information and a "must read" for those venturing into that area in search of the yellow metal.

Bill

Kool, where did you get your copy Bill?

Bill... Thank you for the support. It is being printed in small lots on a full color Laser xerograph machine.
They print it in small lots of 50 when the machine has open time. Thus, it will be of limited availabilty.

Due to the cost of having it printed it sells for $19.95. it is spiral bound and good quality paper. 114
pages. Very little profit margin... But I did not write it to make money...part of it is a re-print of USGS
Bulletin 430, "Gold Mining in the Randburg Quadrangle California" by Frank L. Hess which was
orginally published in 1909. I re-printed it exactly as originial... it was 25 pages. Then I updated it to
include the history from 1910 to 2010. I have been drywashing and detecting in the area since 1962
and was familar with the area.

Randsburg is about 150 miles northerly of Los Angles. 100 miles north of San Bernardino.
Randsburg was a gold mining camp. It is not a made up tourest trap. The Randsburg General Store
in Randsburg CA carries the book... Also, Pedersen's Metal Detectors in Santa Ana CA.

If anyone is living within three hours of driving time to Randsburg, they might enjoy spending a few hours
looking over the town of Randsburg and Johannesburg. They are on Hwy 395 about 25 miles
south of Ridgecrest CA. ... Thanks Bill... Jim Straight

Lookin' forward to it. Thanks again Mr. Straight.:biggrin:Happy Hunting!:)

I suggest at this point that you stay clear of the north and south Rand Mountains without checking the
Randsburg General store for the latest regarding the BLM closures.... the El Paso range may offer more.
Jerry Balcer... sandtrap... is a good contact... Weather and wind can be fierce at times...
