Got busted... I mean, busted a cap... I mean...

First off, congratulations Vern, that had to make your day! What a great find; take good care of it.

Going just by the obverse of your photo it will be graded less than an EF because of the lack of mint luster, so you can expect anything lower than that.
In a CVF condition you should be able to see the shoulder clasp and the ear well defined. Most of the hair should have good detail with almost worn smooth hair above the forehead.
In VF, a little less detail in the hair, the bust drapery well worn along with the lower hair curls. The star centers should still be plainly visible.
Next lower is F, I believe your coin is above an F condition.

Just a ballpark by your photo, the reverse could change all that. Be careful, there are a few varieties; my guess of realized prices would be the high two digits to mid hundred range.

Beauty of a dug coin Vern, treat her well! Congratulations.

wish you wouldn't sell it Vernon, they just don't come along often and now you have one

It would look great in your civil war display case, maybe even hand it down to one of your girls someday, I have a rule of thumb with my finds, I'm in it for the hobby and show and tell and if I ever sell a find it better be able to bring thousands and thousands and put me on the road to retirement or I just flat out won't sell it. And even then I may not sell it, it's rare Vernon and you have it and probably won't ever have another one like it.

Take a deep breath and sit on it for a few days before you put it up for sale, think about it Vernon, ok you may get $300 dollars for it, big deal, you could earn that $300 chopping wood or mowing grass, you have a piece of American history that can't be replaced, I would never sell it buts thats just me I guess, I'm kinda strange that way, they just don't come along that often, great history find bud, keep it
