Got a Question for all those old timers out there like me???

As a newbie here, what are some resources you'd suggest for researching, getting maps, etc?
Library. Zoning maps.
I like this app Regrid.
Gives the owners name of most every property.
With the subscription you get contact information.
Then you knock on doors.
Most public schools are game.
I'll go early morning on weekends.
You could search the forum here for tips.
I know others have much more experience searching out good spots.
Surprised they haven't chimed in.

I'm not much good at research so for me its luck and location. I like to use the best machine I can afford to give me a little more of a real or perceived edge. Then thats where attitude and perseverance come into play. After that its knowing the machine you're using. For me the 800 is the machine I know the best and just recently having purchased a Manticore I hope to learn this one as well.

Free on Google play. Click link.
I haven't needed the pay version.
Name of owner and a little search usually suffice.
CK it out.
When you open it. It displays property around where your located.
You can also shrink or enlarge the screen.
Even slide it across a state then zoom into any property of interest.
I really like this app.

Thanks, I'll give it a try. Mark

1) Location, location, location is the key. You cant find it if it's not there. 2) Guys and gals knowing how to use their machine comes next. 3) I believe most mid range detectors produced over the past 15 years have the ability to find 80% of the targets. The other 20% needs the high end detectors to sniff them out.
Hi PDH, I’m inclined to to to agree with U after giving it some real thought. Went out recently to the beach and everything was sanded over and finally found two locations made the difference. It was very windy and as a result it created a lot of wind sand erosion which exposed a lot of coins to the surface, easy pickings.

Been detecting now for about 16 years and have used about 5 different detectors.
Question:
Of all the finds over the years, what percentage of your finds can you honestly attribute them to.
Example: Three Categories
mine as Follows…
A— My choice of detector, the expensive one with all the bells and whistles—————25%
B—My experience over the years, knowledge, research etc…—————————————50%
C—Just plain luck being at the right place at the right time——————————————25%
Just curious filesnd reflecting on all those finds over the years.
Thanks In advance for those who respond. 😊
Location..........................................50%
Knowledge and Experience.....30%
Choice of detector .....................20%
