Got a new AT gold on order

Jason in TN

New member
Been hunting with the AT pro since it came out first shipment from Garrett. Have done nothing to have it updated. I likely will as soon as my AT gold gets here. Have found enough gold rings to pay for it about three times now and lots of civil war bullets and other relics. So when AT gold was announced I jumped first thing. Hope they start shipping them soon. Think the true all metal mode will be great for relic hunting although small lead shot may drive you crazy time will tell. Keep us updated as folks start getting them. Come on Garrett I want mine yesterday.

You're brave ordering one of these right out of the chute. I hope you are very successful with it, at least as successful as you've been with your AT Pro!

To me this is a second generation AT pro detector and just looking at the pic I will say a few things,
Added cam locks. Longer arm cup shaft. 5x8 coil will offer better balance and will have more depth then the 5" of the comp.
All other new features are a big plus if you dig relics. I'm In asap. HH my friend.

I did not even think twice about it. There is no doubt that it will be as good or better than the AT pro at finding rings. Two or three nice mens wedding bands will pay for it with the price of gold now. Should not be a problem to find that many in a reasonable amount of time. Already cashed in about $1000 in gold this year and I have a good hand full left I have been holding on to. Part of it will buy the AT gold so really it is already paid for from ATpro finds. Garrett has taken care of it's customers better than most companies so really what is there to worry about. My real passion is relic hunting I very rarely sell any of that stuff but the gold rings I hunt to pay my detectors off, has to be something really special for me to keep it. Have only saved one gold ring that I did not sell. Any way wish I had the AT gold so I could get to testing.

We need to encourage, not discourage the early adopters of any new machine on the market. If they don't sell, they will not reach their full potential.

Jason, looking forward to seeing your results with the AT Gold!

I have not pulled the trigger on the At Gold yet. However the fact that it is pre-order time does not concern me in the slightest. I ordered the At Pro in October last year and would do it again. The At Pro was ground breaking technology which had a few kinks to iron out which was done in good fashion. The At Gold is building upon that platform which is a very good point to start from in my opinion.

So I look at the At Gold as an upgrade in capabilities that have already been established and proven with the At Pro.

Good luck with it Jason. I remember your short videos of relic hunts last year with the ATPRO:thumbup: I dont nugget hunt, but that small DD coil is the biggest cats meow on the garrett videos

do any of you guys think the GOLD will be do as well as the PRO for coin and jewelry hunting???? obviously jason in tenn. does, as he has bagged a bunch of rings........i had about decided to order a PRO, but i'm afraid i will get one that has been sitting on a shelf somewhere--- and then i will have to send it in for repairs.[ and $40 ]

Follow your heart Jason. I've had very similar results with my AT Pro as you have had with yours and I wouldn't hesitate in purchasing the AT Gold.

I probably voiced my feelings about the AT Pro on this forum a lot more than most, and caught a lot of flack because I did .....I would do it again if I had to .....and STILL have no problem recomending it, and the new AT Gold ......As far as the AT Gold goes , anyone who has plunked down their money for one should have NO RESERVATIONS at all ......Garrett has learned some valuable lessons with the AT Pro, and has corrected a lot its problems on the AT Gold ......They should be commended , not bad mouthed ......Jim

I've similarly spoken my mind about the AT Pro, and frankly, it deserved the criticism it got in the beginning. That being said, I'd still buy another one in a minute.

I've been using Garrett detectors since 1976 when I got my first BFO machine. I would not have remained a loyal Garrett customer for 35 years if I didn't believe in BOTH the products AND their service.

Hello! It's been a while since I posted anything. Even If I am looking this and the general Garrett forum almost daily.
I bought myself an Ace 250 last year and I am enjoying a lot. Although with the series of heat waves we had this summer, I barely used it at all, preferring to remain in front of my air conditioning unit.
But now the weather is starting to cool off and I will go metal detecting again until it starts to snow. I have been holding a lot when the Ace 350 was available. Then the AT Pro came out and I almost gave in. Understand that I love my Ace 250 but I was starting to look for the next step. The I saw the Ace AT Gold previews and videos. This was the breaking point for me and I just pre-order one from Kellyco. It will come with all sort of extras and bonuses, nearly a $500 saving with the pre-ordering.

Now I just have to explain this to my better half....:inlove:

well, jason encouraged me to order one also. i certainly hope the both of us have some ''luck''. i was trying to decide as to whether try one of these or not, this thread drove me over the edge. for 30+ years i was a competition shooter and there was an old saying, ''beware the man that has one gun,, he KNOWS how to shoot it''. i expect to do the same with my AT GOLD, learn how to ''coin and jewelry shoot'' with it. thank you jason, for helping up my mind!!!

Will post some more videos when I get the Gold. Short relic hunt today got a little warm. No video but did get a three ring bullet and a Enfield with a S in the base. They are so pose to be pretty rare. Second one for me. When I get the Gold will give my honest opinion on it.

I hope that you have budgeted some funds for postage!

That is almost funny. Have not sent my AT pro in once it does make the noise if you shake it back and forth never stopped me from finding a lot of stuff with it. As I said before it has paid for it's self several times over. Even got my first civil war cannon ball with it something I have wanted to find for a long time. Will likely send it in for update and cam locks when I get the gold. It works so well I am kind of scared to send it in afraid it will not have the depth it has now when they send it back.

Glad you are getting one too. This was not intended to get any one to buy one just my thoughts. No way to make every one happy with a detector but I am very happy with my AT PRO.
The water hunting will most likely be pretty much over here when I get it so I will be mostly relic hunting with it to start with. I do a good bit of shooting my self not competition but I do run through a few rounds. Just finished building two new AR's. Did not know there was such thing as one gun. Kind of like one detector it is just not possible.
