Good mercy if you are an old dude and get all confused with all this new technology and wander what to buy.To put it mildly for an all purpose all around hunting detector with out a 12 page curve what would be your choice? What would be your choice with a screen, that would do good on gold, silver, relics? Looking for a reasonable price new/used and use plain batteries.Too bad they do not make a 1266 x with a screen so whats close to this one ?Must be in the $500 range with low on maintenance.Thank you gents.cjm

Nokta makro Simplex for $ 300 I have had and have multiple detectors, but for quality / price / performance it is fantastic. Submersible to 3 meters. Nothing to envy to more expensive detectors. My advice: try a few before deciding

Whites M6 would be a fantastic used buy.......brilliant machine that is good at everything, simple and runs on AA's.Its old technology but will still run with a lot of the latest models and its built like a tank.

I bought an Impact Pro with wireless headphones for a bit less than $500. With all the adjustments, you could make it into 1266 with a screen and more. You can even make the tones and their break points the same.

take your time and get a lot of good advice from the forums. I jumped from an AT Pro 3 years ago to the Nox 800 and for 3 years struggled to get to work for me. Never did. Found out my high frequency hearing problems kept me from using 50 tones which is essential to separate good from bad target effectively. Sold the 800 and now have the CTX3030 that solved my problems. So be careful, I kinda wasted 3 years. 800 is a very good detector, one of the best. But in trashy urban Atlanta hunting environment with my hearing issues, it was not the right detector for me.

I’ll second the comment on whites m6. It’s basically an mxt stuck in c/j mode. Very good detector

I would second Draco. Simplex is the way to go. It has tough and has great customer service if something went wrong.
