The Welcome Stranger Nugget from Moliagul Victoria Australia. Found in the 1800s just 15 minutes drive from where I live.
"Considered by most authorities to be the biggest gold nugget ever found, the Welcome Stranger was found at Moliagul, Victoria, Australia in 1869 by John Deason and Richard Oates. It had a gross weight of over 2,520 troy ounces (78 kg; 173 lb) and returned over 2,284 troy ounces (71.0 kg; 156.6 lb) net."
I found small bits up to a few grams in weight near the monument there where it was found on the surfacing years ago with an SD2100.
I know a guy who's relative was given a 5oz bit of it back then when it was cut up.
I was there just a few weeks ago not far from the spot. I got a couple of tiny bits, no relative of that monster though.
