When I get ready to go metal detecting a large farm field
where the ground is flat & level. What size coil would you
recommend on using. Would you use a nel storm coil, or
maybe the nel tornado coil & some other medium sized
coils just in case you need them.. Thank you for your
time & help. & Have a Merry Christmas..

It depends on the field stubble. If its corn stubble you might stick with the smaller coil or even the stock coil because of the stubble and row size. If its just a field or if its say soybean stubble then go with the larger coil. I've used the Tornado coil for a bunch of fields using my etrac as a first coil. Remember your covering more area with the bigger coils and nine times out of ten the contents of the ground have been plowed up closer to the top surface soil. Good Luck and Happy Hunting!

I base my coil choice on the ground i will be detecting, if the ground is highly mineralized a large coil is not always the best choice simply because a larger coil can light up the Ground minerals and make stability an issue, I also base my coil choice on whether there are a lot of obstacles to navigate through and past, if the ground is not highly mineralized and cluttered with obstacles and heavy trash then go with the largest coil that you have available to you.
