You know what, Golden, I never thought of that, what you just said about the infamous "halo effect" that even Charles Garrett, talks about in some of his books. It makes sense what you say though, because to me that halo effect pretty much has to be some of the metal or ions, or something from that "piece" of "whatever" that's in the ground more or less "leaching" out around it because of moisture, time, God knows what, but it's moving the electrons of the metal or something out further from the coin and creating a bigger "target area" in a sense, but once you disturb that target area, by digging in the dirt, it would make sense to me, at least , that it wouldn't be the same target area, it would be diminished, by whatever ammount of dirt you moved in the "halo area". Boy, that was a mouthful, but I hope you all get my drift. Very interesing and important observation, from you two. I guess we better really "nail down the pinpointed spot" BEFORE, we dig, otherwise, we could loose it if it's too deep. Marc. Good goin' Golden!! Your still the queen of the detector world, in my eyes.
